6th Annual Chocolate Stroll Scheduled for Saturday

We received the following press release from downtown merchants.

On Saturday, February 11 Lowell Downtown Historic District Merchants have planned their 6th Annual Lowell Chocolate Stroll. This event began 6 years ago when local merchant Martha Davis of Tap House Boutique recognized a need for a winter event to support the downtown merchants. “Winter months can be pretty slow in our little town.” Davis said “When I first began this event only a handful of merchants participated and now we have 20 or more participating stores including our restaurants.”

Each participating store will pass out free chocolate to those that come and shop during this event. “No purchase is necessary to receive your free chocolate, but our hope is that it draws people from Lowell and outlying areas to support local businesses.” Davis said

Laurie Chambers owner of Red Barn Mercantile has participated in this event from beginning and raves about how fun it is to see the town full during winter months. “The downtown area suddenly wakes up from a long winter slumber.” Chambers said “Everyone is enjoying their chocolate treats, socializing and shopping, a great way to support our downtown merchants during the usual lull of winter.”

Lowell Chocolate Stroll draws hundreds into town enjoying chocolate, shopping and supporting not only the merchants but the restaurants who will have chocolate drink specials. A warming fire will be added to this event near the Flat River Grill that was created originally during COVID. “Now we use this fire to enjoy during the cold winter months but it does remind us of a tough time we all made it through.” Davis said “The fire also draws attention to our beautiful Riverwalk area next to our brand new Showboat”

The Lowell Chocolate Stroll has a Facebook page for more information called Lowell Chocolate Stroll. Punch cards are handed out at your first merchant destination. Travel down Main Street and receive a mark at each participating merchant and when your card has at least 12 stamps, turn it in at your last destination for a Lowell Bucks prize drawing. Lowell Bucks work like cash in Lowell and can be used with any merchants that participate in the program.

You will also find great deals, store drawings and so many wonderful people happy to greet you. So mark your calendar for Saturday, February 11 from Noon-5pm for the Lowell Chocolate Stroll in Downtown Lowell, MI.
