Betten Baker Donates $7,000 to Local Non-Profits

Last Friday, Betten Baker passed out checks totaling $7,000 to five Lowell non-profits. The company, which owns two dealerships on Main Street, says it is happy to be able to give back to a community that has welcomed it with open arms.

“The community has been very gracious to us,” says general manager Charlie Jeffrey.

Betten Baker came to Lowell five years ago and now operates two dealerships in the city. Betten Baker Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram is in the location that previously housed Grand and Vennen car dealerships. Meanwhile, Betten Baker Buick GMC now occupies a building that long-time residents may remember as Wittenbach GMC. The dealer built a new showroom for its Chrysler location and is in the process of constructing a new building for its GMC business.

During its time in Lowell, the company has sponsored a variety of events such as the Lowell Community Expo and the car show at the Riverwalk Festival. It has also made direct donations to non-profits as it did on Friday.

“We try to see who will have the most outreach,” Jeffrey explains when asked how recipients are chosen.

On Friday, checks ranging from $1,000 – $2,500 were given to representatives of the following non-profits:

Some organizations, such as FROM, have partnered with Betten Baker in the past while the donation was a pleasant surprise to others.

“It was unexpected,” says Robin Morehouse, who accepted the check on behalf of Alpha Care Center. “We appreciate community support like this.”

That sentiment was echoed by other recipients. “We depend on funds from community members like Betten Baker as it allows us to do the work that we do. We are so appreciative of their continuous support,” says Shelly MacNaughton, Chair of the Lowell Education Foundation. “Thank you to the entire Betten Baker team for not only trusting us with these funds but for your own investment in education.”
