Canfield, Salzwedel and DeVore Win Lowell City Council Election

It was a tight race, but in the end, there could only be three winners. Out of five candidates vying for spots on the Lowell City Council, the winners are Greg Canfield, Jim Salzwedel and Mike DeVore.

The final vote tally in the Lowell City Council election is as follows:

As the top two vote getters, Canfield and Salzwedel earn four-year terms on the council. DeVore just squeaked past Ritzema to earn a two-year term. As the youngest candidate in a field of well-known names, Davenport had a solid showing as well.

In total, 435 people voted in the election. That’s out of 2,917 registered voters. While a voter turnout of 14.9 percent doesn’t sound great, election workers thought that was a good number considering the council race was the only one on the ballot.
