Chair-A-Tee Chairs on the Move (Plus See Who’s Benefiting)

All summer long, you’ve probably noticed brightly decorated chairs scattered throughout Lowell. They’ve been displayed along downtown Main Street.

Greeting visitors at west side businesses such as Great Clips.

Why are there so many chairs in Lowell this summer? They are part of the Chair-A-Tee fundraiser for Pink Arrow Pride.

These chairs weren’t simply intended to brighten up the town. It is also hoped they will bring in extra money to fund cancer support services for local families. Artists like Amy, Jean, Jennifer, Tammy, Randi, Mary and Suzanne are behind one-of-a-kind creations that are being auctioned off to the highest bidder.

Now you don’t have to travel all over town to see which chair you’d like to own. For the final week of the auction, the chairs have been moved to the LowellArts Gallery on Main Street. There, you can see and bid on the chairs during gallery hours. (See our Scenes from Lowell: Chair-A-Tee Edition for more photos of the chairs up for auction).

Then on Saturday, August 26th from 2-4pm, there will be a special reception at the LowellArts Gallery. You’ll have  and winners will be announced at the end of the event.

And who gets the money raised through these sales, you may ask. The proceeds go to Pink Arrow Pride which, among other things, provides financial support for area families who have been affected by cancer. This support helps those with mounting medical bills pay their utilities, mortgage or simply put food on the table.

These people are your friends and neighbors, and we’ve been sharing their stories this past summer. In case you’ve missed any, we’ve collected the links to the all their stories of perseverance below. Take a moment to read their experiences and remember that bidding on chairs in the Chair-A-Tee auction helps ensure additional funds are available to help other families in the years to come.
