Christmas Through Lowell Location Guide: Downtown Lowell Area

We asked businesses, locations, and vendors who are participating in Christmas Through Lowell (CTL) to answer a few questions for us about where they will be located and what they will be offering.  Below are the responses we received in the location or vendor’s own words. These are just a handful of the many stops throughout the Lowell community who will be participating in Christmas Through Lowell.

Additional information about Christmas Through Lowell can be found on the Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce website.  The information includes a link to a list of locations which provides an address and pin on a map of each location.  If you missed our article about this year’s featured artist, GlessBoards you can view it here.

We will be publishing two lists of area stops.  The first includes stops around downtown Lowell.  Tomorrow we will publish a list of stops further from this area.

Location: Stop #28 – Lowell United Methodist Church
Address: 621 E Main St
Offering: We have 40+ different crafters throughout our church.  We have a great variety of crafters of glass, wood products, jewelry, Christmas ornaments, repurposed glass, cat & dog collars, original childrens’ books, crochet items, homemade skincare & soaps, home baked goods as well as many others! Come see us for all this!
Open all three days? No, only open Saturday 9 am to 5 pm. We will serve a luncheon 10 am to 3 pm with sandwiches, soups, and deserts.
Location: Stop #31 – Studio 506
Address: 506 N Lafayette St SE
Offering: Personally I do hot, warm and cold glass consisting of beads, fused items and stained glass.  That is, if my curiosities don’t wander. The other artists involved in Studio 506 for Christmas Through Lowell create signage, fairy garden supplies, crochet toys and baskets, baked goods, soy candles and engraved acrylic lights.  We are also helping our next generation of makers start out. They have created wood Michigan items, pallet flags, bracelets, travel tic-tac-toe sets and home décor.
Open all three days? Yes
Business/vendor established: This is really difficult to answer because I can only comment on myself when I have several makers at my location.   Glass has been my passion since 1998, starting with stained glass, adding a torch for bead making and finally a kiln for fusing.
Why is CTL a great event?
Oh, my gosh….everything.  I love meeting the people that come to see us and talking about our work. Everyone involved is very talented and we love what we do.  The items that our young makers are doing are not your typical kid crafts, these are must sees.

Location: Stop C – Tap House Bo
Address: 219 E Main Street
Open all three days? Yes
Business/vendor established: We have clothed the Lowell and Ada surrounding areas since 2015.
Offering: We are a women’s clothing boutique on Main Street. We carry sizes Small-3x and order from all over the world. We also invite local artists to carry their good in our store and have many Michigan Made products.  Tap House Boutique will have candles for sale to help support the Ionia Montcalm county children’s advocacy center. This is a cause we will continue to sponsor and so worthwhile.
Why is CTL a great event?
I love how unique it is. Driving through the countryside and shopping for handmade gifts brings us back to traditions. We as Boutique stores offer unique gifts but the homes are all handmade so it’s a wonderful combination for the young and old. I love the decorations and warm feels shared between those shopping and those selling.

Location: Stop R – Chimera Design
Address: 208 E Main St
Open all three days? Yes
Business/vendor established: When we opened, Lowell did not have a full service jewelry store, so we felt there was a need. For the first half a dozen years we also had artwork of all kinds from local artists. Once another gallery opened, we focused on fine jewelry and jewelry repair.
Offering: We sell fine jewelry made here by Julie Claire DeVoe and we also represent two local artisans, Whitney Lassini and Julie Barnett.
Open all three days?  Yes
Why is CTL a great event?
It means a lot to Julie and I because we worked hard to have our store open in time for our first CTL in 2002. We were not fully operational, but we opened our doors and the Lowell community overlooked our shortcomings! We really enjoy the opportunity to meet people from all over who come to Lowell for the event.

Location: Stop #46 – Always Fresh, LLC
Address: 13681 Oberley Dr SE (The address will take you to a dirt driveway past the house, take that all the way around to the barn where all of the goodies will be. Signs for parking will be up!)
Offering:  Shirts, wood signs, stickers, cups, thermoses, pillow covers, home decor, earrings, chap stick holders, pet accessories, cutting boards.
Open all three days? Yes.   We’ll also have a fry cart here (called Street Frites) from mid afternoon Saturday into the evening and all day on Sunday so come hungry!!
Business/vendor established: This stop will feature 9 different artists and most of them have been making items for over 10 years.
Why is CTL a great event?
We love seeing how many different ways you can make items that are very similar like wood signs.. everyone has a different take and idea.

Location: Stop H – Ability Weavers
Address: 215 W Main St
Offering: We create unique handwoven towels, blankets,  handbags and rugs. One of the most popular gift items we offer is our handwoven dish cloths.  They are a great gift item for almost anyone on your shopping list, including teachers, bus drivers or that friend who is hard to shop for.  Table runners and placemats are also very popular this time of year. In addition to our handwoven products we will also be hosting a jewelry maker and loom builder who will be demonstrating in the shop on Saturday.
Open all three days? Yes
Business/vendor established: We opened our store in 2016 and have sold our products to people all over the USA.  This will be our 4th year participating in Christmas Through Lowell. This year we have added new items including our bulky blankets, baby blankets and a larger selection of table runners and placemats.
Why is CTL a great event?
We love the festive atmosphere and beautifully decorated downtown area.  It is a wonderful way to kick of the holiday shopping season.
