Culver’s On Schedule to Open in May, Owner Receives Highest Honor

We received the following information about the upcoming opening of Culver’s and a press release about recognition the owner and general manager of the Lowell location received.

Information from Culver’s owner and operator, Steve Stephan, about their opening.

We are on track to have a May 30th opening and the hiring for crew starts next week. Interested applicants can apply at culvers.com/jobs or we will have walk-in interviews being conducted from 11:30 to 5 on Saturday, April 30th at the Kent District Library – Englehardt Branch, located at 200 Monroe St., Lowell. Paper applications can be picked up and dropped off on-site at the hiring center near the construction trailer.

We are looking for staff to work front of the house, back of the house, and a maintenance technician. Will will hire starting at 14 years of age but are looking for 16 years and older, part-time to full-time status with benefits available for eligible team members. Starting pay for adults is $14/hr and minors at $11.25 or more based on experience.

Grand Rapids, MI Culver’s Owner-Operator Receive Highest Honor

Steve Stephan, owner-operator or partner of three Culver’s restaurants in the Greater Grand Rapids area and a native of Alpena, MI, is the recipient of the 2021 GM Culver Award. The award, named after George M. Culver, the father of Co-Founder Craig Culver, is the highest honor in the organization which recognizes individuals who have demonstrated long-term visionary leadership and success.

Steve Stephan joined Culver’s in 2005 as an owner-operator with his first restaurant in Grand Rapids, MI. His latest restaurant will open in Lowell, MI sometime in May.

“Steve is very deserving of this honor as an exceptional owner-operator and restaurant partner,” said Culver’s Co-Founder Craig Culver, during the award presentation in Indianapolis, IN.

“Steve is a true partner of the brand. He has created a legacy of developing team members and connecting to his communities,” Culver added.

Throughout the years, Stephan’s restaurants have supported the local schools through Share Nights, donations and backing of parent/teacher organization events. His restaurants sponsor the local youth baseball leagues. And, he works with the local FFA chapter to provide as much assistance as he can offer to help their growth.

Stephan also serves on the board for his local downtown development authority and serves as an advisor for the Kent County Health department and a liaison for the restaurants within the area.

“This is truly an honor. I truly appreciate this. I am looking forward to continuing to grow our restaurant teams,” said Stephan. “I want to thank our guests for welcoming Culver’s with open arms, it’s been an honor to serve and work in our communities.”
