FaireVerse Comes to Lowell for Two Weekends

This weekend and next, FaireVerse will take over Recreation Park in Lowell.  According to the event’s founder, Cassandra Swanson, the two weekends are a blending of Renaissance and comicon.  Visitors can expect to take in live acrobatic performers, snake dancers, live music, art, great food and drinks. The event will take place Saturday and Sunday, May 18-9 from 10am-6pm, Saturday and Sunday, May 25-26 from 10am-6pm, and Monday, May 27 from 12pm-6pm.  Tickets are available online or at the gate. Admission for those who are 15+ is $10, 5-14 is $5, and 4 and under are free.

Entertainment Galore

Swanson selected the Kent County Youth Fair grounds for the location of the event because it is centrally located in west Michigan.  “There will be everything from sword fighting knights and minstrels, to dancers, cosplayers and magicians. As well as a Viking Encampment.” she says of what to expect both weekends.  This is the first year of FaireVerse but the expectation is that it will continue in future years and grow in activities offered, vendors participating, and guests who visit.

The trio of Sir James, Squire Paul and Dave the Knave have been performing for 16 years.  Their comedy sword fighting show Rogue Blades is expected to be a popular event consisting of ad lib comedy alongside broadsword fighting.  The Knotty Bits Sideshow also comes with years of experience, known for their aerial acrobatics.

A variety of musical entertainment will take place each weekend.  Celtic ballads, post-psychedelic bands, and more will please crowds with tunes throughout both weekends.  Additionally, battles, fire and sword eating, snake dancing, knife and axe throwing, and more will entertain all ages.  Vendors will also be selling food, drinks, and other crafty wares completing the experience of FaireVerse.
