A wide range of styles and media are represented including: expressive abstract drawings, oil and watercolor painting, photography and ceramic sculpture, mixed media collage, figurative work, and more. Casey Bemis, from Whitehall, will display acrylic and pastel paintings depicting Michigan farmlands in their glory of all four seasons. Rosemary Ellis, from Grand Rapids, presents a body of work called “Portable Rainbows.” Her oil paintings explore the dynamics of bubbles, a veil of soap and water that becomes a prism where light is refracted and reflected. Dawn Hollister, from Allegan, specializes in landscapes in watercolor and pen and ink.

Alyson Rose, from Ada, will display “Relation,” a collection of portraits and figures on painted re-purposed windows, creating a unique experience for the viewer. Kim Ensch, from Belleville, creates abstract images and surface textures with her work constructed from materials such as paper, fiber, and found objects. Hana Girdvainis-Sawyer, from Muskegon, presents her work entitled “Walk on the Wild Side,” which represents her fascination with turbulence and adventure. Her expressive drawings include pen and ink, charcoal, and oil on canvas.

Ognian (Ogi) Yanakiev, originally from Bulgaria and currently living in Wayland, will display his mixed media paintings and sculpture that reflect his strong, original artistic style. Diane Zoellmer is a photographer, and Cara O’Brien is a ceramic sculptor, both from Whitehall, who have teamed up to create a complimentary body of work called “In Between Here and Gone.” Diane Zoellmer captures elusive and ever changing moments of ice, water, sand and light. Cara O’Brien combines porcelain forms with driftwood and metal to create organic and biomorphic sculptures.

The public is invited to a Meet-the-Artists Reception on Sunday, September 24, from 2-4pm, at LowellArts. This is a free event, and light refreshments will be served.
