The weather isn’t exactly sizzling today, but that doesn’t mean things won’t be heating up on the Riverwalk. The 2019 Sizzlin’ Summer Concert series kicks off with country singer Alan Turner taking the stage at 7pm tonight, June 13, on the Riverwalk.

While the day has had a rainy start, the forecast shows the wet weather clearing out later this afternoon, and we may even see the sun before 8pm. The Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce hopes to make a final decision by 5pm regarding whether the weather will affect the concert. We will update this article in the event of a cancellation.

Assuming the show does go on, the concert is free for all to come and enjoy. There are bleachers on the lawn by the library or you can bring your own chairs. Free parking is available in any city lot.

Flat River Grill will be selling beer, wine and cocktails that can be consumed within a designated area on the Riverwalk. Or visit the Lowell Area Historical Museum’s booth where you can purchase hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, cookies, bottled water and soda. Jared’s Ice Cream will be selling sweet treats, and Stormy the Magician will be on-hand to delight the kids with his balloon creations.

As for the main event, Alan Turner is bringing his Renegade Road Tour to Lowell for what promises to be an evening of good music and good fun. Turner performs with the Steel Horse Band and was the 2019 Detroit Music Award Winner for Outstanding Country Recording. Tonight’s concert is only the first in a summer full of free concerts on the Riverwalk. The full line-up can be seen on the Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce website.
