Artist’s Statment:
Linda Laughter is an oil and acrylic artist who lives in Ada, Michigan, is married and the mother of three grown children and Nonna to two dear grandchildren. Originally from Houston Texas, Linda’s parents noticed her artistic talent at an early age and enrolled her in art classes where, with the guidance of her nurturing teacher, she learned to paint in oils. In college, she enrolled in architecture/interior design school where she met her husband. Ultimately, she decided that the math involved in architecture were not her forte, so she transferred to interior design where she could combine her love of architecture with her creative talents. She has been a practicing interior designer for over 40 years.

Linda is mainly inspired by the things that she finds in nature. She often wishes that her eyes were cameras to permanently capture the textures and colors of the trees, flowers, and birds that catch her imagination in order to transfer them to canvas. She feels God has created the perfect subject matter! She prefers to paint in oils for their depth of color and texture. She also enjoys acrylics because she can create saturated colors and loves the fact that they dry quickly and are easy to change. Because Linda believes that an artist must never stop learning, she is currently studying watercolor. She finds this medium particularly challenging but is determined to master the techniques. She is also venturing into more abstract art with the goal of creating a looser style.

Linda loves to go into what she calls her happy place which is in her studio, getting out her paints and squeezing them out on her pallet, preparing to create. She thoroughly enjoys putting together a body of work using different colors and concepts that somehow work together for the enjoyment of those attending her shows.
