Fun with FROM: Jim Hodges

In a new series, Flat River Outreach Ministries will be introducing the community to some of the people involved with the organization. We will be sharing information posted on their Facebook page.

Jim Hodges has been on our Board of Directors since 2018! Along with sitting on the board, Jim also serves on the Facilities Committee and has volunteered as a tax preparer for the past four years. Along with my wife Chris, we have filled many other roles from time to time over the past 22 years!
How did you get involved at FROM?
When we moved to Lowell in 1982, our family joined the First Congregational UCC of Lowell. For many years our Church offered used clothing thru the former Rummage Bin and that was blended with the Methodist’s Food Pantry to create FROM in 1998. So we’ve been around …
Why is the work of FROM so important to you?
FROM is important to our community. It is THE single best resource in helping people and families in our area. And THE single best opportunity for true volunteer service. I have many friends that attend different churches, but we can all unite at FROM to do God’s work together.
What do you love about the Greater Lowell Community?
We have a small town with a big community. Just the right size to make things happen. The culture of giving seems to have no boundaries.
Outside of FROM what might we find you doing?
After 23 years on the Lowell City Council, seven years of those as Mayor, I am still active in the City. Currently, I sit on the LOOK Memorial Committee, Chair the Board of Review and Chair the ABCT (absentee vote count). I am on the Board of Directors at Schneider Manor and am the City Representative on its Trust Fund. I also attend First Congregational UCC of Lowell and am involved in Lowell Ministry Alliance, and

Lowell Rotary Club (President 1990-1991).
