Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary

Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.

I’m Stella!  In true Shepherd fashion I can be quite the busy bee when I’m hanging out with my human friends. I enjoy investigating new places, sounds & things. I was introduced to a few human kiddos, they were 12 & 9. They were really nice and made me feel comfortable. I’ve been known to have an energetic burst from time to time, so I might be a bit much for some kids younger than that.

Before coming to MAS, I lived with a few other male dogs, and had loads of fun running and playing with them. While I get to see them from time to time still, I’ve been making new four legged friends, and have made tons! However, I’m not a fan of cats and would do best in a home without any.

Stella, an adoptable German Shepherd Dog Mix in Lake Odessa, MI

I’m Tatiana! Some of you may know me as one of the wiggliest and happiest gals out here at Mackenzie’s. While that’s totally accurate, some of you might have heard about me from national newspapers. I don’t want to get into it too much since my life is night and day different from what it had been, but I’d been beaten pretty badly and abandoned in the woods. I was saved by a kind person, and made my way to Mackenzie’s.

Thanks to tons of love and support from so many generous, kind, and patient people, I’ve healed quite a bit and made great strides…and I think I’m ready to find my “forever home.” At Mackenzie’s, I’ve grown to love the staff and volunteers, and I’m spoiled with long walks, play time in the big yard… In the summer, I love to splash around in the water! I’ll even play a little fetch sometimes. I have a signature wiggle that is known around the grounds – it makes its appearance when I see one of my favorite people!

Because of my past, I really would be happiest as the only pet in a quiet home with love and cuddles galore. I’ve come such a long way, and can’t wait to share all that I’ve learned and all my love with the right person.

Vicky’s Pet Connection works with the Kent County Animal Shelter to rescue cats and kittens.  They also take in dogs older in age and those needing special care. Here are their pets of the week.

Howdy friends! My name is Gemma and I’m only around a year old. I started out my life in a horse barn but I’m so charming…I made my way into the house! It’s so cozy and warm in here and I LOVE IT!! I am having a ball exploring and playing but would love a forever family to call me own. Any takers?

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue look to find dogs and sometimes cats in their care forever homes with the help of foster homes.  Here are their pets of the week.

Hi! I’m Ricky and I’ve been told I’m quite the sweetheart! I had a rough start that I really don’t remember much about. My siblings and I were dropped off at a shelter down in Louisiana after riding in the back of a pick-up truck soaking wet and hungry! We then traveled 20 hours to Michigan to search for a better life and a forever home. I like to play with my siblings a lot, so I would really like to have a sibling to play with in my forever home if possible. I also love to snuggle with and be held by my humans! I pretend I don’t know how to climb stairs so that my foster mom picks me up and carries me. I really like that! I’m just old enough to start working on basic obedience training and I think I’ll like that too. I’m not a huge fan of the cold, but I am learning that the faster I go potty, the faster I get to go back inside. I would prefer a home where I could receive lots of attention, playtime, training, and snuggles! I will be up to date on my vaccines, neutered and microchipped. My adoption fee is $300.

Are you looking for a new best friend? Or a girl that would see you as the center of her universe? If so, then Sadie Ann is your girl!

Sadie is a beautiful little 10 month old mutt from Louisiana. She had a rough start to life having been dumped by humans with a horrible skin infection and no way to survive. Luckily, some wonderful people rescued her and got her the care she needed to heal up. Now that she’s all healed up and healthy we’re looking for her new forever family!

Because she’s been through so much Sadie is a very timid girl and will need a patient family. It takes her time to open up because she has such a big heart and so much love to give. She loves people even though she’s nervous at first, she likes cats and every dog she’s ever met. The ideal home for Sadie has a fenced in yard, another dog that’s very confident and people that are willing to work with her to grow her confidence and watch her personality blossom.
