Furry Friday

While local shelters are not actively doing adoptions at this time, some are still taking applications for their available pets.   If you see a cat or dog you’re interested in, contact the organization directly to see what they are doing during this stay at home order.

The following animals are available for adoption.  If you find an animal you’d like to adopt please contact the organization directly.  Lowell’s First Look does not assist with the adoption process. And if you’re looking to add to your family and don’t see an animal below, each organization has additional cats and dogs looking for new homes.   Pet profiles and photos are provided by each organization.

For additional information about each organization visit their websites or read our intro article to Furry Friday!  The following pet profiles are provided by each rescue.

Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary

Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.  This group is not taking new applications at this time but are still showcasing their available dogs.

Do you ever lay in bed late at night and juuust when you’re falling asleep remember something you’ve done that’s super embarrassing? Like that time you called your teacher “Mom” in front of the whole class? Just last night I was almost asleep and remembered that one time I accidentally peed on my friend’s head while we were playing….it was super awkward. If you live a life that has a lot of “oops” and awkward moments, I’ll be there to help you through all of them! Some things you should know about me before we make this commitment: I enjoy playing with other dogs, I have a really cute tail and my ears are shaped like Doritos, and I’m looking for a forever friend who is allergic to cats so I don’t have to worry about those coming into our house! Send in that application today and let’s start working through all our awkward life moments together!

My name is Charity, and I’m a five-star dog living in a two-star world. I’m on a mission to find my forever family and all they need to do is give me endless petting, supply me with only the best treats (again…five-star dog!), and have only the fluffiest of dog beds available for me to lounge in. When I’m not being pampered, I love to play with my butlers—I mean…my “owners” and go for walks. One of my favorite things to do is to lazily walk back and forth from person to person for attention, and snuggle on their laps, occasionally giving out the best dog kisses you’ll ever experience! Come visit me, I’ll play hard to get at first (like a lady does), but then I’ll be your best friend!

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue look to find dogs and sometimes cats in their care forever homes with the help of foster homes.  Here are their pets of the week.

This is Ginger and she is a sweet and spicy little girl we rescued from southern Louisiana. She is only 9 lbs but she has a huge personality. Ginger likes other dogs and people. We suspect she’d probably do fine with cats and respectful kids. She loves to play with toys and also loves to snuggle under blankets. We’re still working on house training because Ginger hates the cold, and she wants to be with you 24/7 so you have to go with her. She does use puppy pads, too. It would be best for Ginger to have a fenced-in yard because she does love to run around and explore and she would be hard to catch if she darted out the door. She will be spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm tested, and her adoption fee is $200.

Blaze is a one and a half year old male husky with a charming personality. When you think of a young husky you may think very high energy or a runner, but Blaze is a really good boy. He loves people and bonds quickly. Blaze likes to please his person and he’s smart and trainable. He would probably love going to training classes because he just wants to be with you. He is playful yet he can just hang out with his person, too. He does very well with other dogs, but is not good with cats according to his previous owner. We think he’d probably be fine with kids who are respectful. Blaze likes to play with toys and he is house and crate trained. He has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested and his adoption fee is $200. Please apply for Blaze if you plan on giving him the forever home he deserves!
