Furry Friday

While local shelters are not actively doing adoptions at this time, some are still taking applications for their available pets.   If you see a cat or dog you’re interested in, contact the organization directly to see what they are doing during this stay at home order.

The following animals are available for adoption.  If you find an animal you’d like to adopt please contact the organization directly.  Lowell’s First Look does not assist with the adoption process.  And if you’re looking to add to your family and don’t see an animal below, each organization has additional cats and dogs looking for new homes.   Pet profiles and photos are provided by each organization.

For additional information about each organization visit their websites or read our intro article to Furry Friday!  The following pet profiles are provided by each rescue.

Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary

Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.

Does your cell phone provider offer unlimited talk? You’ll need it after you adopt me! In typical husky fashion, I LOVE a good conversation, and I love doing ANYTHING (so we will never have to have the “I don’t know, what do yooouuu want to do” conversation). On Mondays we can go for a walk, on Tuesdays you can take me to the pet supply store for a shiny new bone, Wednesdays we will snuggle the day away. I love meeting new friends (dogs and humans alike), and I even like kids! Let’s not waste another day, schedule a visit with me today (I’m out of minutes on my cell phone, so I can’t make the call myself…)!

Stormy, an adoptable Husky Mix in Lake Odessa, MI

If all jobs paid the same, Ducati would be a professional road-tripper. This boy loves his car rides, and tries to persuade everyone to take him for rides anytime he’s near a car! Ducati also earned his “sea legs” this summer, and went for several boat rides with his best friend! Dogs and cats are on Ducati’s list of things he loves. He has also met some kids that he liked, but he told us he would be happiest with bigger kids because the small ones get all the attention! When Ducati is not in a car or on a boat, he can be found going for walks and sniffing out the best smells on the trail! If you’re looking for someone to find all the best hiking places with, Ducati is your guy! Fill out an application and ask to meet him!

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue look to find dogs and sometimes cats in their care forever homes with the help of foster homes.  Here are their pets of the week.

Spice is a Swiss Mountain Dog mix who is about 7 months old and already weighs 60 pounds.  If she were a Spice Girl she would be Smarty Spice because she already knows sit, down, stay, and is doing great with her house and crate training.   Spice loves to be near her people and her dog BFF.  Spice gets nervous in new situations and her new home will need a confident, calm dog friend who is willing to play with her but will also teach her that she does not need to worry about all the new things.  Spice has the energy of 7 month puppy so she will also need a fenced in yard where she can run off some of her zoomies.  Because of her size and age, she could certainly knock a toddler or young child over unintentionally so we are looking for a home with kids over 10.   Spice is up to date on her vaccines, has been spayed, and microchipped and looking forward to meeting her furever family. Her adoption fee is $200.

Meet Bess! Bess is a 10 week old Staffy Boxer Spaniel Retriever Hound Terrier-mixed breed puppy. She thinks she is one of a kind! Her foster family says she is just a fearless little pistol and tries to get herself into everything she can! Full of of non-stop energy, Bess would do best with a very active family, another fun loving dog in the home, and a fenced yard to curb her wanderlust. Her people will need to be dedicated to training and it would be best if they have had experience with high energy breeds. Bess is looking forward to a life full of fun and adventure with her forever family. Could it be you? Bess will be spayed and up to date on all vaccines, is crate trained and working on her potty training. Her adoption fee is $300.00
