Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary

Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.

Higbee’s most endearing feature is how he must bring you something every time you go to his kennel. Be it his toy, his bone, or a treat that he’s been saving, you can count on this happy guy to try and share it with you! Higbee’s hobbies include going for boat rides, sightseeing, and cuddling. But really, he will do anything as long as he’s hanging out with his people! Higbee is a social butterfly and loves meeting new people! Send in an application today to set up a meeting with this happy-go-lucky guy!

I have been being introduced to more dog friends recently and that has been going really well. I have even met some more children, I enjoyed watching them run around (child’s age – 11).

I’m Tatiana! Some of you may know me as one of the wiggliest and happiest gals out here at Mackenzie’s. While that’s totally accurate, some of you might have heard about me from national newspapers. I don’t want to get into it too much since my life is night and day different from what it had been, but I’d been beaten pretty badly and abandoned in the woods. I was saved by a kind person, and made my way to Mackenzie’s.

Thanks to tons of love and support from so many generous, kind, and patient people, I’ve healed quite a bit and made great strides…and I think I’m ready to find my “forever home.” At Mackenzie’s, I’ve grown to love the staff and volunteers, and I’m spoiled with long walks, play time in the big yard… In the summer, I love to splash around in the water! I’ll even play a little fetch sometimes. I have a signature wiggle that is known around the grounds – it makes its appearance when I see one of my favorite people!

Because of my past, I really would be happiest as the only pet in a quiet home with love and cuddles galore. I’ve come such a long way, and can’t wait to share all that I’ve learned and all my love with the right person.

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue look to find dogs and sometimes cats in their care forever homes with the help of foster homes.  Here are their pets of the week.

Zeva (pronounced Zay-va) is a 68 pound, 11-year-old female Australian Shepard Mix. Her owner passed away, and Hearts of Hope is looking for her new forever family. If you are looking for a dog that will happily sleep by your feet all day while you work from home, and then jump up ready to hike for miles in the evening, Zeva is your girl. She knows several commands, loves to cuddle, has the softest, most beautiful fur, and gives sweet kisses.

Zeva loves to be with her people and will happily curl up on the couch with you in the evening. She is a sporting breed, so she does best with daily exercise. In fact, walks are the only thing she likes better than cuddles. Zeva is good with medium-to-large respectful, calm dogs. She is housebroken, up to date on her shots, and microchipped.

She does have some anxiety around sudden movements and loud noises and has a high prey drive. So, Zeva cannot be in a home with cats, and we recommend no very young children or excitable or small dogs. She is spayed, chipped and up to date on vaccines. Her adoption fee is $175.

Eddie is a 4 year old German Shepherd who is ready to find his person!  He weighs in at about 80 pounds right now.  Eddie loves walks, watching Netflix, and playing with other dogs. He is good with other dogs, but he is not a big fan of cats and isn’t sure what to do with them, so he would do best in a home without cats. While he is good with kids, he would do best in a home with older, respectful kids as he does not appreciate being pushed or pulled.  Eddie will be a great travel buddy, and he will do ANYTHING with and for his humans because loyalty is something he takes very seriously.  He is already house trained and crate trained too!  Eddie’s future family will be very lucky to get such an AMAZING German Shepherd, will that be you?  He is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.  Eddie is heartworm positive and will need to be kept calm during his treatment, but all costs will be covered by Hearts of Hope at one of our vets.  His adoption fee is $200, and you can apply to adopt him at www.rescueofhope.com/adoption-application/
