Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary

Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.

My name is Austen. My D.O.B. is 11/23/17. My siblings and I, and our Momma, were found by a nice man, in his barn, during all of the cold weather. He was kind enough to make sure we went to a place safe.

I am such a sweetie pie, along with my 10 brothers and sisters. Right now Mackenzie’s is taking applications for adoptions. After we are spayed and neutered we will be available to go home. So MAS is getting ready for all the activity by getting the owners lined up now.

For safety’s sake, we are looking for homes with physical fenced in areas.

Not only did Hurricane Harvey displace thousands of people, it also effected countless animals. Hundreds of pets already in shelters were sent out of the city to make room for the lost and displaced animals until they could be reunited with their owners. Mackenzie’s, along with numerous rescues, worked alongside the efforts of The Noah Project of Muskegon, MI. All coming together with one goal, helping animals in need and finding them forever homes in Michigan.

Amazing Bumper, is a smart and active puppy. He is a quick learner and loves to play. His DOB is 4/8/17. He would enjoy having a family that would be able keep him active and work on training. He knows that the perfect family is out there for him.

Carol’s Ferals

Carol’s Ferals specializes in trap, neuter, return (TNR), but they come across “friendlies” who are available for adoption. Here are their pets of the week.

Want someone to greet you at the door when you come home?  Then you’ll want me, Fanny.  I am very loving, but not much on being picked up.  I am toothless, because I have something called stomatitis which affects my gums and mouth.  It’s not serious, but I can have flareups.  At least you know I can’t bite you.  Come and meet me.  You will fall in love.

Shy boy, that’s me, Lance.  I have a wide head, and big heart.  I love to lie around and get petted.  I am FIV positive, which just means my immune system isn’t as good as other cats.  I can still live a normal life span in a loving home.  With a little patience, I could become a lap cat.

Got a red dot at home?  Then adopt me, Brynn.  I love to play, chase the dot, run on the cat wheel, and get petted.  I have a little SASS in me, and am not very fond of other cats.  Come see how fast I can run on the exercise wheel.  You will be impressed!

Vicky’s Pet Connection

Vicky’s Pet Connection works with the Kent County Animal Shelter to rescue cats and kittens.  They also take in dogs older in age and those needing special care. Here are their pets of the week.

This is Jasper, and he’s got the market cornered on looks as well as personality to spare. He’s about 3 years young and ready to find his match. Because he has longer fur, he’ll appreciate getting brushed each week. It’s a great way to bond!

You can meet Jasper at Critter Cottage in Ada (7205 Thornapple River Road). Store hours are Tuesday-Thursday from 10-6; Friday-Saturday from 10-3.

This 10 month old girl is named Velvet because that is what her fur feels like. Her FEELINGS are another story. She is not the chosen one. Velvet was brought to the shelter because the family dog was too rough. They had given up on finding a solution to make her life comfortable but gave permission for us to try and find her another home. WE CAN DO THAT, WE WILL DO THAT. Velvet is worth it!
