Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary

Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.

My name is Fitz. I am a very shy guy, that was taken away from my home due to unsafe conditions and hoarding. I love other dogs, but may be super shy with you at first. I would love to have other small dogs in my new home that are dog social. I would love a patient and caring owner, to hang out with and go for walks with.

Fitz, an adoptable Dachshund Mix in Lake Odessa, MI

Emmie is a young dachshund mix. She was removed by animal control from her past home due to hoarding. She is super sweet and a bit submissive. She warms up pretty fast and has done well with loving and patient volunteers at Mackenzies. She is really good with other dogs. She does not know commands and markers and will need a patient adopter to help her learn. She did fine with the older children who volunteer at MAS. She would not do well with small children due to her shyness.

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue look to find dogs and sometimes cats in their care forever homes with the help of foster homes.  Here are their pets of the week.

Bosley is a mellow “Bagel”, Beagle, Basset hound mix.  This very timid boy has come out of his sweet shell since he first arrived in his foster family on October 22nd.  He loves hanging out with his foster brother and sister dogs and he seems to get along with new dogs he meets on walks.  Bosley is around 2 years old and around 25 lbs. He is happiest when he can hang out with the family in the living room.  He is still too scared to play but he definitely wants to be part of the action. Bosley is great on walks. He heals very nicely and never pulls on the leash. He is easily spooked, however, he does well with other dogs but gets timid around their humans.  He has not shown any signs of aggression.

He hasn’t met any kids or cats, so we don’t know how he would do with them.  He will be neutered and chipped on November 10th.  He is Heartworm negative and is up to date on his shots. His adoption fee is $275

Meet Raina! Raina is 8 months old and what we think is a Heeler Collie mix. We do know she is the sweetest little girl you’ll ever meet! Raina recently came all the way up from Louisiana to find her perfect family. She’s a very shy girl but once she warms up to you she’s all about the cuddles. She loves all people and is great with other dogs. She’s not as familiar with cats and is a little nervous when first meeting them. Since she’s a sweet shy girl, she’ll need a patient family that’s willing to work with her through training. Raina’s ideal family will already have an outgoing dog to teach her to be more confident. Raina does require a fenced in yard for her safety and for the safety of her new family. She is spayed and up to date on her vaccinations. Her adoption fee is $275.00.
