For additional information about each organization visit their websites or read our intro article to Furry Friday!  The following pet profiles are provided by each rescue.

Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary

Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.

My name is Charity. My D.O.B. is 03-02-2018. I weigh 40 lbs. I love to hang out with my humans. I love belly rubs, and walks, and treats. I am nervous now of the kennel, and do much better on my off-sites with special volunteers. I need a home that is not adverse to the terrier breed that I am, and quite frankly won’t try to change me to much. I can be fearful of certain things, so I would also like a family that can help me build my confidence. Baby steps, is what the adoption coordinator says I need. Going slow and steady to a new environment, and a loving family. Really pretty simple.

Lexi is a high energy youngster with a flair for adventure. Her explorations of the great state of Michigan were paused when she was picked up as a stray and found her way to MAS. Lexi would thrive in an active home that can give her some structure, help her work on her manners and allow her a good outlet for her young pup energy! Underneath this excitable ball of energy is a cuddly lady, eager to find her people. She’s done well with the dogs she’s met here so far, and seems to like kids (although with her energy levels may be best with older kids). Cats could be off limits, as we know for sure she would chase. She is super smart and knows sit, down, stay and come. The sky is the limit for her learning potential.

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue look to find dogs and sometimes cats in their care forever homes with the help of foster homes.  Here are their pets of the week.

Look at those ears! This cutie is 6 months old and about 30lbs. Sparky came from Arkansas where he lived in a shelter. He is still adjusting to family life so he can be a little shy. His foster fur siblings have helped him learn the ropes. He is all puppy! Sparky loves to chase, tug, fetch and wrestle! He would love to have a playmate in his forever home. He loves all humans but would do best with older children. Sparky is an energetic boy that needs lots of exercise and a fenced yard. If he sounds like he would fit into your family fill out an app! He will be neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. His adoption fee is $300.

Kia is a 2 year old Catahoula Leopard Dog Mix with beautiful brindle markings and very kind eyes. She is house trained, crate trained and walks very nicely on a leash. Kia is such a sweetheart; although she can be a touch shy at first, she warms up very quickly and loves to cuddle. Kia is very athletic and loves to spend time outdoors with her humans. This sweet girl is heart worm positive; she is currently undergoing the treatment, and the Rescue is covering the continued costs. She will need a loving, supportive family to take her to her appointments and give her all the cuddles she wants. Kia is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on shots.  Her adoption fee is $250.
