Furry Friday

The following animals are available for adoption.  If you find an animal you’d like to adopt please contact the organization directly.  Lowell’s First Look does not assist with the adoption process.  And if you’re looking to add to your family and don’t see an animal below, each organization has additional animals looking for new homes.   Pet profiles and photos are provided by each organization.

Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary

Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.

Thor is one sweet pup! Clocking in at seventy pounds, he’s absolutely full of love and has LOTS to give! He loves spending time with his human pals, and has made some four legged friends at MAS as well. He can be an excitable guy and needs to work on some manners. Because of his size and energy level, he’d do best in an adult home or with older kids at this time.

Ant Man is still a youngster, and full of young pup energy. He’s a downright sweetheart with lots of love to give! After a long walk or run (and some focused training time to work on some manners), he’s happy to settle in for a cuddle session. Because of his high energy streak, he’s not everyone’s cup of tea – but for a fellow fun loving go getter, he could be the PERFECT partner! As far as his potential goes, the sky’s the limit! A home that can devote time to him would really help him to thrive. Because his manners could use some refining, Ant Man would be best with older kids for now, and would need a home without cats.

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue look to find dogs and sometimes cats in their care forever homes with the help of foster homes.  Here are their pets of the week.

Koopa is the goofiest, love bug ever.  Despite being horribly mistreated by people (and horribly doesn’t even begin to describe it) before he found his way to a shelter in rural Arkansas, this staffy mix loves people.  All of them.  Every single one.  At 2 years old and around 55 pounds, he is an ideally sized lap dog (just ask him) but probably isn’t ideal for young kids due to his size.  Koopa would love to be the center of your world and gladly share snacks and Netflix binges with you cuddled up on the couch but also wouldn’t hate a running buddy because Koopa has two speeds … nap time and “What we are we doing now?!”  He plays well with most other dogs but likes to be the only dog at meal time.  If you’re looking for a friend to keep you laughing …. well, here he is.  Koopa is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all his vaccines.  His adoption fee is $250.  To adopt Koopa, apply at: www.rescueofhope.com/adoption-application

Holliday’s Exotic Avian Rescue Team

HEART specializes in rehoming birds when all other alternatives have been considered. Based in Lowell, birds are fostered primarily in Lowell or White Pigeon. Here are their pets of the week.

Valentine is a male cockatiel who needs someone who is patient. He does step up but is nervous of hands. The best home for him would be someone who has other cockatiels so he can have a friend to talk to.

Adoption fee: $50
