Furry Friday

The following animals are available for adoption.  If you find an animal you’d like to adopt please contact the organization directly.  Lowell’s First Look does not assist with the adoption process.  And if you’re looking to add to your family and don’t see an animal below, each organization has additional animals looking for new homes.   Pet profiles and photos are provided by each organization.

Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary

Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.

My name is Oreo, like the cookie. I am just as sweet as well. I have a lot of energy for a little guy. Lots of hair too! You will need to consider the cost of a groomer, if you want to adopt me. I was not good with cats in my past home, or small children, as I tend to just run into them. I have made quite a few canine friends at MAS so far, and would be happy to have a playmate. I would thrive in a home that can teach me how to harness my energy for good, and likes to get out and be active with walks and runs.

D.O.B. is 5-11-20

My name is Barkley. What a cutie I am, or so I have been told. I truly have a huge heart and aim to please. I really miss my people when they leave me alone, so a family that would help me build confidence would be awesome!  I love being outside running & playing. Not to toot my own horn, I’m an excellent walking partner as well. Mostly though, I just want to hang out with my people and be loved.

My D.O.B. is 7/22/16.
I am curious about cats, and may decide that I want to chase them.
I am dog selective, so finding the right friend for me is not impossible.

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue look to find dogs and sometimes cats in their care forever homes with the help of foster homes.  Here are their pets of the week.

Hi my name is Jenna!  I’m a 2 year old, 50 lb. pitbull terrier mix. But what I really am is the biggest love bug EVER!  Unfortunately I didn’t have the best life in Arkansas but that all changed when I came to Michigan and was fostered through Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue.  My foster mom says I am the perfect dog!  I love to take walks and to snuggle on the couch.  I am a happy girl who loves other dogs but I don’t know anything about cats. I am crate trained and house trained.  I have to get my first heartworm treatment injection on the 28th of June and then my forever people will bring me to my next ones a month later in Grand Rapids. I can’t wait to be heartworm free! I am up to date on my vaccines, spayed and Hearts of Hope covers the cost of my heartworm treatment. If you have lots of love to give me I’m your girl!  My adoption fee is $250.  Apply to adopt me at rescueofhope.com

Cliff is a handsome, goofy, lovable pup who loves everything in life.  He loves running around with toys and throwing them in the air to himself if nobody wants to play with him, but he also enjoys a good game of chase and wrestling with his dog friends.  He is very smart and would probably really enjoy activities like agility, dock jumping, and scent work.  He also LOVES the water! If you’re near water, he wants to be in it.  If you aren’t throwing something for him to fetch, he’ll just start swimming laps looking for something to fetch for you.

At about 5-6 months old, he already weighs nearly 40 pounds, so we know he’s going to be a big boy full grown.  Cliff craves both physical and mental stimulation, so he’d do really well with an active family and/or one that wants to include him in their daily activities.  Cliff is good with dogs and cats, and he is also crate trained.  He is doing well with house training but still has the occasional accident if you are not paying attention.  He is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.  His adoption fee is $250, and you can apply to adopt him at www.rescueofhope.com/adoption-application
