Furry Friday

The following animals are available for adoption.  If you find an animal you’d like to adopt please contact the organization directly.  Lowell’s First Look does not assist with the adoption process.  And if you’re looking to add to your family and don’t see an animal below, each organization has additional animals looking for new homes.   Pet profiles and photos are provided by each organization.

Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary

Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.

My name is Blake. I am one sweet little dude. I am a lab mix. I was running the roads when I was taken into animal control. So MAS would really like me to have a safe, physically fenced area. I am a little shy, and will need a home that is very patient and caring with me. I like kids but will need older kids at first. I do okay with cats and other dogs. I would like an active home, I love walks and playing outside with my family.

D.O.B. is 11/04/20

My name is Lance. If I do say so myself, I can really be a goofball. I love to run around super fast, ninja style, and then jump in the lake in the big play yard. I am a verbal player, so it sounds like I am growling when I play but I really am just playing and daring you to take the football or tennis ball from me. The adoption coordinator thinks I am super intelligent. I am also confident and independent but also warm up and try to sit on your lap. I have GSD in my lineage somewhere, so might need structure in my new home and to have a more confident leader in the home so I don’t think that I have to run the show. I know so many commands and have completed training courses by my previous owners. I lived with a teenage girl and loved her very much. I have also been introduced to a 10 year old child was was very respectful and wanted attention and listened to the commands I was given. I love to play, and like tennis balls.

My D.O.B. is 6/28/16. I am around 55 lbs.

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue look to find dogs and sometimes cats in their care forever homes with the help of foster homes.  Here are their pets of the week.

Fred is an approximately one and a half year old ball of energy. He loves to play with toys, in particular squeaky toys and his favorite game is to chase the flirt pole. He’s fully house trained and crate trained and will jump in your face when he has to go outside. At first you think he wants to lick and snuggle but no he just wants to go outside. He walks well on leash during training walks but isn’t quite ready to heal during leisurely walks. Fred loves to go out on walks and hikes and loves to explore and has gotten really good about checking in with you. In the mornings, he gets his exercise by playing chase with the resident dog which he looks forward to.  We don’t really know about his breed but he sure acts like a working dog and enjoys working for his food, attention and learning new tricks. He’s very smart and picks up on new commands and tricks pretty easily. Fred is not a social butterfly and doesn’t like strangers in his bubble, but he’s neutral on walks and out and about. Inside the home, he just retreats to his safe spot. Fred came to us very scared with no confidence and would try to get away from any situations that scared him. After teaching him the foundations, we have started exposing him to new environments and situations to proof his new skills and he continues to improve and is becoming a lot more relaxed.

Fred is looking for a home with another confident canine to play with, show him the ropes and teach him that people can be fun. He would do best in a home without small kids and will need someone committed to continuing his training to become the confident dog we continue to see emerge as he settles.  His adoption fee is $250.

Raven is a 14 pound, 5 year old MinPin Mix with amazing eyebrows. Amazing. She is doing a fantastic job with her crate training and house training, and she is working on loose leash walking. Raven loves to be outdoors, and she will do best in a home with a fenced in yard. Raven loves other dogs, but would prefer a home without cats or other small furry creatures. She will need a patient home that will build her confidence and help her come out of her shell. She is exceptionally cuddly, loves the outdoors and is proficient in small bow type weapons – she’s like Jennifer Lawrence in The Hunger Games, but with smaller cheeks. Raven is spayed, microchipped and up to date on shots. Her adoption fee is $275. To adopt Raven apply at www.rescueofhope.com/adoption-application
