Furry Friday

The following animals are available for adoption.  If you find an animal you’d like to adopt please contact the organization directly.  Lowell’s First Look does not assist with the adoption process.  And if you’re looking to add to your family and don’t see an animal below, each organization has additional animals looking for new homes.   Pet profiles and photos are provided by each organization.

Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary

Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.

Boooooooooooo is my name, did I scare you? I really am the sweetest and kindest dog ever. Not scary at all! I lived with other dogs, and have made a couple of dog friends, when I am introduced properly. I did not do well on my cat intro, so no cats for me!

One of my favorite activities at MAS is helping the staff in the kitchen. Plenty of snacks, plus, I get to greet and mingle with everyone who passes through! Lots of attention and love for me. I need to perfect my manners a bit, so older kids might be best for me right now. With some time and patience, I am confident that I could be a perfect gentleman!

Thor is one sweet pup! Clocking in at seventy pounds, he’s absolutely full of love and has LOTS to give! He loves spending time with his human pals, and has made some four legged friends at MAS as well. He can be an excitable guy and needs to work on some manners, which he is doing very well with at Mackenzie’s. Due to his size and energy level, he’d do best with older kids 10 and up at this time.

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue look to find dogs and sometimes cats in their care forever homes with the help of foster homes.  Here are their pets of the week.

Hi, my name is Benny. I am a 10 week old terrier mix who weighs just about 12 pounds.  What kind of terrier you may ask, that is a good question. My siblings all look like a mix between Dauchsund and Jack Russell. I look like a cross between a Schnauzer (maybe even Giant Schnauzer), a Scottie and a Wookie! Needless to say, I am adorable. I have a beautiful black, wire type coat (that is very soft), long legs, and a full beard. Yep, 10 weeks…and a full beard. I love to move and explore. I’m not hyper…but I don’t stop moving. That is, I do not stop moving until I’m ready to snuggle. Then I am all about being cuddled in a comfy lap.  I am currently working on house training, but I still have some accidents because I’m still just a little guy.

I’m looking for a person (or people) that is ready for adventure. I LOVE to explore! I’m pretty sure I would like camping, hiking or any type of outdoor activity. And I would love to hang out with some kids.

If you are up for adventure, snuggles, and a little housebreaking…then I may be your guy!  Benny is current on his vaccines, neutered, and microchipped.  His adoption fee is $350 and you can fill out your application at www.rescueofhope.com/adopt/

So we hear you are in the market for a baby giraffe. Frannie (aka Frannie Girl, aka Frances) is a 4 month old, long legged puppy who is looking for her forever family. At about 25 pounds she’s a lanky girl who loves to use those legs! She loves to play with the dogs in her foster family, loves to play with toys, and LOVES water. (A kiddie pool or the lake … She will gladly take either!)  Frannie came to us nervous and timid.  She has grown leaps and bounds in her confidence but her ideal home will need an experienced, confident, and playful dog she can emulate and play with. And she would LOVE a home with school aged dog savvy kids.  Fran adores the kiddos in her foster home! In fact, she loves them so much that she just can’t help but jumping up to get closer to them sometimes. Fortunately she is super smart and is very easily redirected.  She is quickly learning “off” and several other important dogging skills like coming when she is called, sitting, and is even starting to shake.   If you are looking for the most adorable booty wiggles whenever you enter a room, the best snuggler at bed time, and your dog is looking for a partner in crime, Frannie just may be your girl. Like any puppy, she is working on her leash walking and potty training, but she is making great progress! Frannie is spayed, microchipped, and current on her vaccines. Her adoption fee is $300 and you can submit your application at www.rescueofhope.com/adopt/
