Furry Friday

The following animals are available for adoption.  If you find an animal you’d like to adopt please contact the organization directly.  Lowell’s First Look does not assist with the adoption process.  And if you’re looking to add to your family and don’t see an animal below, each organization has additional animals looking for new homes.   Pet profiles and photos are provided by each organization.

Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary

Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.

Hi there! My name is Harper. I am a sweet, spunky German Shepherd mix. I love to go for walks or even just spend time getting some snuggles in. I am also an excellent swimmer, so going to the beach would be amazing! I am still young and could use some help on my manners. I enjoy the company of calmer dogs but cats still make me a little nervous. I may get a little too excited for younger kids so I would be best in a home with older children.

Hello, I’m Gilbert! As you can see from my pictures, I’m pretty handsome. My Birthday is 12-22-2018. I’m learning new things everyday from the staff and volunteers here at Mackenzie’s. I was picked up as a stray as a youngster, so the staff and volunteers here have really helped me buckle down on my training and manners. In a quiet and patient home, I’m pretty confident that with one-on-one attention, I could really blossom. I would love to take training classes with you, not only because I am very smart, but it would also help build a great bond between us. No small kids, other dogs or cats for now.”

(Gilbert is not aggressive with other dogs, he just doesn’t understand dog etiquette very well.)

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue look to find dogs and sometimes cats in their care forever homes with the help of foster homes.  Here are their pets of the week.

Dizzy is a 12 pound, 3 month old Rat Terrier Puppy who came to us from our good friends at DACC in Detroit. Her foster humans describe her as a fun little pup who doesn’t know she’s little. She’s like Joe Pesci – but much cuter. Dizzy is doing a great job with her crate training and house training, and she loves cats, dogs and humans of all ages !! She is such an adorable little munchkin who brings so much joy to every situation. Dizzy is spayed, microchipped and up to date on shots. Her adoption fee is $300. To adopt Dizzy apply at www.rescueofhope.com/adoption-application

Harley is a 12 year old Wheaton Terrier Mix who came to us after some pretty serious neglect.   But we’ve gotten him all cleaned up and his medical care updated and he’s ready to find a retirement home!   He has difficulty seeing and hearing so he needs a home without children … He startles easily when he can’t hear or see them coming.  He loves a comfy couch, dog bed, sweatshirt, or nap to snooze in and he loves going for his leisurely walks.  He does great co-existing with the large, young (but lazy) dog in his foster home.   Harley is crate trained and potty trained.   He is neutered, microchipped, and current on his medical care.  His adoption fee is $175.
