Furry Friday

The following animals are available for adoption.  If you find an animal you’d like to adopt please contact the organization directly.  Lowell’s First Look does not assist with the adoption process.  And if you’re looking to add to your family and don’t see an animal below, each organization has additional animals looking for new homes.   Pet profiles and photos are provided by each organization.

Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary

Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.

Meet Mayva. Smart, friendly, sweet, wiggly, and as you can see, completely adorable! Some of my favorite things are being the center of attention and working on practicing new tricks. Its a great way to help me focus my energy in a positive direction. There are just so many things in life to be excited about, sometimes I have a hard time expressing my excitement and I might be a little overzealous for smaller kids. However, I would be a great playmate for older kids that can keep up with me. I am ready to go, go go! I am always on the move, I think I would make an awesome running partner! With all of that being said, once we have our fun, I’m down for some relaxing and snuggles.

If I sound like your perfect match, head over to the MAS website to fill out an application to come meet me!

In my previous home I did live with children and a cat.

Hello friend! My name is Lorelai, and I am sweet as can be! I am so happy to meet you and I’m excited to curl up for some nice cuddles. I was found as a stray along with my puppy, Rory. We came all the way from South Carolina! The person that brought us back to Michigan was unable to keep us, so we were brought to Mackenzie’s. I am pretty gentle and mellow, but I still could use some help to improve my manners. Kid energy makes me a little uneasy, so I would be most comfortable if my new home didn’t have any children. I would also prefer if my new home didn’t have any cats.

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue look to find dogs and sometimes cats in their care forever homes with the help of foster homes.  Here are their pets of the week.

Paulette is 40 pounds of cuddly, snuggly, lovable sweetness !! She is a 10 month old Lab/Terrier Mix who came to our Rescue all the way from Arkansas. We just love her smile, her scrunchy face and her great big hugs. Paulette is house trained, crate trained, and she does very well with cats and dogs. She would do best in a home without smaller children due to her energy level. Paulette is super smart and loves to learn new things; we think she would benefit from going to puppy classes with her forever humans. She is so eager to please !! Paulette is spayed, microchipped and up to date on shots. Her adoption fee is $275. To adopt Paulette apply at www.rescueofhope.com/adoption-application

This special soul with the adorable sour puss and squeezable smushy face is Sally !! Sally is a 65 pound, 4 year old Stacy Mix who came to our Rescue all the way from Arkansas. This sweet girl is deaf and will need an experienced and patient home that will give her the attention and continued training and patience she needs to flourish. Sally will need to be the only furry friend in the home and it needs to be a fenced-in home without children. Sally is crate trained, house trained and she loves to learn new things !! She is very smart and a very hard worker. We think she would love to take training classes with her forever humans; she is so eager to please and she is so full of love. Sally is a super snuggler who doesn’t have a concept of personal space – she wants to be in her humans’ laps giving hugs and kisses. Sally is spayed, microchipped and up to date on shots. To adopt Sally apply at www.rescueofhope.com/adoption-application. Her adoption fee is $250.

Holliday’s Exotic Avian Rescue Team

HEART specializes in rehoming birds when all other alternatives have been considered. Based in Lowell, birds are fostered primarily in Lowell or White Pigeon. Here are their pets of the week.

Mork and Mindi are a bonded pair of blue fronted Amazons, they are 40+ years old. Mindi likes females and will come over to say pretty girl or I don’t know & get a head scratch. Mork has a wild caught band and much prefers to be independent and left alone. He will take a treat though. Although they are bonded, they cannot be housed in the same cage. They both have arthritis, they both do not step up and are just looking for a home to retire at without high expectations. Mork does have an old eye injury that we have treated with antibiotics and some eye ointment but it is permanently damaged. He cannot see out of it very well. If you are willing to open your home up to two old souls, please submit an adoption application to get started!

Location: Lowell, MI
Adoption Fee: $400
