Furry Friday

The following animals are available for adoption.  If you find an animal you’d like to adopt please contact the organization directly.  Lowell’s First Look does not assist with the adoption process.  And if you’re looking to add to your family and don’t see an animal below, each organization has additional animals looking for new homes.   Pet profiles and photos are provided by each organization.

Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary

Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.

I’m Jasper! Nice to meet you!

I am a beautiful lap dog which happens to be a (roughly) 85 pound, German Shepherd. (Seriously, he is so affectionate and instantly wins the hearts of everyone he meets!)

When I arrived here, I had a terrible skin infection, which turned out to be chronic allergies and caused me to lose my hair on my neck and chest. Sadly, my pervious owners were going to have me euthanized due to this. It was also discovered during my medical work-up that I had heartworm, which could have been easily prevented.

But my new friends here at MAS have been working on making me better and have created a loving, safe place for me. I’m on prescription food that has helped me to start growing my hair back, and am just about finished my heartworm treatment. I’m still have some activity restrictions to stay calm through the last bit of my recovery, but that’s hard to do when there are so many potential playmates around!

I know how to sit. The volunteers and staff at Mackenzie’s are teaching me other commands. I am also learning a few manners; I LOVE people and attention so much that I sometimes jump up to greet them. I know not all people want to be greeted this way, or it might be scary for some as well. So, I am trying my best to keep all four on the floor. I don’t have a lot of interest in toys, but I love treats and lots of snuggles.

I am “Iron Man”!!

Are you ready? I have big energy and I’m looking for an active family that can keep up with me! I’m a good boy, but sometimes I forget that I am 80lbs of dog. For this reason, I would probably be best in a home without kids. I would be best in a home that has experience training a large size dog. I walk with a gentle leader that has greatly improved my walking manners (it helps me remember that its not polite to pull my person around). I would benefit with continued training to help me use my energy in a positive way. I like to practice my cool tricks too, I know “sit”, “shake”, “down” and “speak”.

I would be best in a home without four legged siblings. In my opinion, I am the full package and have all the love and laughs you could ever need! If you are ready to get-up-and-go with me, put your application in today!
