Furry Friday

The following animals are available for adoption.  If you find an animal you’d like to adopt please contact the organization directly.  Lowell’s First Look does not assist with the adoption process.  And if you’re looking to add to your family and don’t see an animal below, each organization has additional animals looking for new homes.   Pet profiles and photos are provided by each organization.

Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary

Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.

Hello, I’m Gilbert! As you can see from my pictures, I’m pretty handsome. My Birthday is 12-22-2018. I’m learning new things everyday from the staff and volunteers here at Mackenzie’s. I was picked up as a stray as a youngster, so the staff and volunteers here have really helped me buckle down on my training and manners. In a quiet and patient home, I’m pretty confident that with one-on-one attention, I could really blossom. I would love to take training classes with you, not only because I am very smart, but it would also help build a great bond between us. No small kids, other dogs or cats for now.”

(Gilbert is not aggressive with other dogs, he just doesn’t understand dog etiquette very well.)

Gilbert 2

Have you ever heard the phrase “you had me at hello”? Well, my name is Millie and I’ll have you at awoo! Like a fine wine, I am aged to perfection; but I still have some pep in my step! After a nice walk, my favorite thing to do is to curl up on a nice cushy bed and relax. I love attention (especially ear rubs), I don’t mind sharing my new home with a cat, but I really would prefer to be the only dog. I came to MAS pretty overweight, I feel so much better now after dropping a few pounds. I would love it if my new family would help me continue my weight loss journey when I go home. I hope a special someone will give me a chance to fill their lives with love, laughs, and loyalty.

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue look to find dogs and sometimes cats in their care forever homes with the help of foster homes.  Here are their pets of the week.

Winter weather it here.  And you’re going to need a new blanket to cuddle up with for movies and hot chocolate.  But not if you adopt Merle.   Don’t miss out on one more day with him!   This  40 pound, 1 year old Staffy mix with the cutest brown eyes would love to snuggle up and keep you warm.   We’re pretty sure he’s in the Guinness Book of World Records as the World’s Snuggliest Dog.  Merle has overcome a terribly rough start to his young life.   He has gained so much confidence and become such a brave guy.  When he is unsure he looks to a dog or a human he trusts to reassure him.  And Merle is a cat guy, too.  Merle would prefer not to spend the whole day alone but is crate trained for those times when you are away. He’s here waiting to start pumpkin spice season with you!!  🎃  This sweet boy is neutered, microchipped and up to date on shots. His adoption fee is $250. Minka is a 56 pound, 1 and a half year old Husky with the most gorgeous blue eyes and the goofiest personality. She came to the shelter as a stray, very pregnant. Minka had four adorable pups and is happy to be free of motherhood! She likes to stay busy and will do best in an active home that will give her the attention she deserves and the exercise she craves. Minka is house trained, and she does very well with other dogs and humans of all ages – cats, probably not. She loves getting brushed, is wicked smart and loves stuffed animals – she carries them around like they’re her babies.

In typical Husky Houdini fashion, Minka will find a way out of a crate and will need a fenced in yard to prevent her sorcery ways of escape. Her favorite things include Zoomies, belly rubs, cheese in a can, head tilts, and any movie or with Tom Hardy – she thinks he’s dreamy. Who doesn’t?!

Minka is spayed, microchipped and up to date on shots. Her adoption fee is $250.To adopt Minka apply at www.rescueofhope.com/adoption-application
