The following animals are available for adoption. If you find an animal you’d like to adopt please contact the organization directly. Lowell’s First Look does not assist with the adoption process. And if you’re looking to add to your family and don’t see an animal below, each organization has additional animals looking for new homes. Pet profiles and photos are provided by each organization.
Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary
Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.
My name is Barkley. What a cutie I am, or so I have been told. I truly have a huge heart and aim to please. I really miss my people when they leave me alone, so a family that would help me build confidence would be awesome! I love being outside running & playing. Not to toot my own horn, I’m an excellent walking partner as well. Mostly though, I just want to hang out with my people and be loved.
I am curious about cats, and may decide that I want to chase them.
I am dog selective, so finding the right friend for me is not impossible.
My D.O.B. is 7/22/16
You look like you need some doggy smooches to brighten your day, and I am just the dog to give you some! My name is Fez and I would love to be your best friend! I am happiest with my people, I am trying my best to learn how to enjoy alone time, but I would prefer to go to a home with patient adopters that understand and can help boost my confidence.
Some of my favorite things are giving kisses, spray cheese (you know that squeeze cheese in a can?), cuddling on the couch, and enjoying some nice booty scratches. Sometimes I forget that I weigh about 60lbs and will try to get into your lap. It would be super cool to go home with someone that is as cuddly as I am!
An adult only home would be best for me. I have had nice cat introductions at MAS and would be comfortable to share my new home with a kitty sibling. I would like to be the only dog in my new home though. If you are interested in meeting me, submit an adoption application to the MAS website!

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue
Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue look to find dogs and sometimes cats in their care forever homes with the help of foster homes. Here are their pets of the week.
Jake is a 65 pound, senior Boxer Mix who came to our Rescue from our good friends at Ionia County Animal Shelter. He is named after Jake Gyllenhaal – because they both have successful acting careers, they are both very handsome and they are both 41 years old. (He’s actually 16, but he thinks he’s 6 months). Jake has the mind, spirit and smile of a puppy, but an older body. Despite that, he moves well and has no trouble with stairs. We are hoping to find him a very special, loving home for him to retire in. He is so sweet and happy, and he brings so much joy to everyone he meets. He loves cuddles and he’s very affectionate. We absolutely adore him. Jake does very well with cats and dogs; he would do best in a home without smaller children due to his size. He is house trained and crate trained, but he would really prefer a forever home where someone is home most of the day. Jake is neutered, microchipped and up to date on shots. His adoption fee is $175. To adopt Jake apply at www.rescueofhope.com/adoption-application
Ginger is a 60 pound, 2 year old Staffy Mix who came to our Rescue all the way from Louisiana. She is incredibly lovable, affectionate and so so goofy !! Ginger is house trained, crate trained, and she does very well with cats, dogs, and humans of all ages. She is super smart and loves to learn new things; she knows many basic commands and she walks very well on a leash. She would do best in an active home that has a fenced in yard, a Hulu subscription, many different types of cheeses, and humans that love goofy, lovable, lap dogs. Ginger is spayed, microchipped and up to date on shots. Her adoption fee is $250. To adopt Ginger apply at www.rescueofhope.com/adopt/

Cantelope is a canary, we do not know an age but assume older. She needs a home where her person understands canaries and knows how easily stressed they get. You will need a cage that is at least 2xs her wingspan, a flight cage is preferable.
Location: Lowell, MI
Adoption Fee: $40
