Furry Friday

The following animals are available for adoption.  If you find an animal you’d like to adopt please contact the organization directly.  Lowell’s First Look does not assist with the adoption process.  And if you’re looking to add to your family and don’t see an animal below, each organization has additional animals looking for new homes.   Pet profiles and photos are provided by each organization.

Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary

Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.

Small in stature, big in heart, and weighing in at about 40 pounds of good boy. I am a goofy little guy, so I hope you are ready to laugh! The adoption coordinator tells me I am like a little piggy, because when she scratches my back in just the right spot, I like to rub my side on whatever is near by, like a little pig! Silly kids have a bit too much energy for me, I prefer to be more calm. Sometimes, I get a little overstimulated with higher energy so I am looking for more of a laid back home to curl up for a good snuggle (excuse me if I fall asleep on your lap); I am the perfect movie marathon buddy! I could be good in a home with other dogs, but I am not a big cat fan, so I’d prefer a new home without cats. I have some allergies that are being managed, but the MAS would be happy to tell you more about when you come to meet me. Just fill out an application to get the process started!

Repeat x 100.

If you’re looking for a dog who loves to play fetch and knows the whole “kit and caboodle” of commands, I’m your guy! As much as I love to play, I also really love a good cuddle session. I enjoy being with my people, and get along great with other dogs, cats, AND kids! I mean really…. you should just end your search here, I’m as good as it’s gonna get! So, what are you waiting for?! Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue look to find dogs and sometimes cats in their care forever homes with the help of foster homes.  Here are their pets of the week.

Looking for an incredibly loyal dog that needs a little help relearning how to be a confident pup? Would you like the reward of earning a dog’s trust and teaching her that humans are not all bad? Then meet Alice. Alice was found living in a field in Ohio and appeared to have had a litter at some point but no pups were in sight, leading us to believe she may have been dumped after her puppies found homes. Alice takes a while to feel comfortable, so any potential adopters will need to understand that she will likely need a long time to calm down before she will warm to you, but she has come miles from where she was. She’s not aggressive with her fear by any means, however, but would do best in a home without children (at least initially) due to her size (she’s approximately 80 pounds). She has spent a lot of time with her foster mom gaining confidence and re-learning how to dog from her foster siblings. She would do fine in a home with other dogs to help her continue to gain confidence, and maybe be great with cats after a slow introduction although she has not been tested with them. She’s looking for a patient adopter with a relatively quiet house where she can continue to blossom into the sweetest, most loyal dog.  She is a year and half old, current on her vaccines, and will be spayed and microchipped at the time of her adoption.  Her adoption fee is $250 and you can apply to adopt her at www.rescueofhope.com/adopt/

Lola is 1 1/2 year old pittie mix who weighs in at just under 50 pounds.  She is looking for a companion that loves to snuggle and play. Lola is completely potty trained and crate trained but has done great outside of her crate as well.  Additionally, she does well with dog respectful children.  She is still working on refining her manners and leash walking but has completely mastered the art of using her gorgeous green eyes to get you to give her just one more belly rub or booty scratch.  She would do best in a home as an only pet. Lola is a love and has not quite mastered how to handle being excited. She will need continued obedience training to help her understand how to handle her excitement with other pets and social situations. Lola is spayed, microchipped and current on her vaccines. Her adoption fee is $250 and you can apply to adopt her at www.rescueofhope.com/adopt/

Holliday’s Exotic Avian Rescue Team

HEART specializes in rehoming birds when all other alternatives have been considered. Based in Lowell, birds are fostered primarily in Lowell or White Pigeon. Here are their pets of the week.

Ruby is a male sun conure, he’s very noisy as most sun conures are. He does well with everyone here, however he has picked a male in the past to bond with and didn’t want to interact with others when that happened. Ruby does come with a cage.

Location: Lowell, MI
Adoption Fee: $250
