Furry Friday

The following animals are available for adoption.  If you find an animal you’d like to adopt please contact the organization directly.  Lowell’s First Look does not assist with the adoption process.  And if you’re looking to add to your family and don’t see an animal below, each organization has additional animals looking for new homes.   Pet profiles and photos are provided by each organization.

Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary

Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.

Hold on to your hats! Here comes Emma!

I am so full of energy and excitement for life now that I have had a second chance at finding safe and loving home. I came to MAS heartworm positive, the amazing staff gave me the treatment I needed and I am now free from any heartworms! Yey! I had some knee repair work done recently as well, and I am on some activity restrictions. It has been a challenge because I am so ready to take on new adventures and live every day to the fullest! I would be happiest as the only pet in my new home. I just prefer to be the center of attention for my new family. And how could I not be? I am such a goofball. So much so, that sometimes my enthusiasm is too much for small kids. I have a hard time remembering my size. I am looking for a forever home that can find a walking route that is more secluded, where we can have one-on-one time to explore together. I get a bit distracted when I see other dogs, I forget that it isn’t polite to stop and stare….I have been practicing with the staff and volunteers at MAS and have made some progress. I am not always go-go-go though. I do like to wind down and relax too. I am a sweetheart, I love to give kisses and get attention from people. If you’d like to be my adventure buddy, submit an adoption application to get the ball rolling!

Emma 1

An active home is a must for me. Lots of walks (maybe even runs), and definitely lots of playing in a nice big yard. I love my ball, playing fetch and keep away are my favorite games….and of course I’m a smiley, wiggly boy that will always be happy to see you.

Roger is a good boy. He is very friendly and quite silly. He is going to make an amazing companion. Roger’s potential adopters should be aware that somewhere in Roger’s past, he has had to protect resources to survive. Potential adopters should have experience working with dogs that resource guard to help him work through his challenges. Because of this, Roger would do best in a home without young children.

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue look to find dogs and sometimes cats in their care forever homes with the help of foster homes.  Here are their pets of the week.

Bear is a 12 pound, 2 year old Pekingese Mix with an incredibly goofy personality and an adorable underbite – he looks like Michael Phelps, but he’s not as good a swimmer. But close. Bear is so much fun to be around, and he loves his humans so much. He needs a little time to warm up at first. And when he is warmed up, his hilarious antics come through and he fills the home with so much love and laughter. Bear is crate trained, house trained and he does well with cats and with other dogs with proper introductions. He will do best in a home without smaller children. Bear is neutered, microchipped and up to date on shots. His adoption fee is $275. To adopt Bear apply at www.rescueofhope.com/adoption-application

JJ is between a year or two old and tips the scales at just over 40 pounds.  She’s a lovable girl who will binge watch A Million Little Things with you.  She will snuggle extra hard at all of the crying parts.  She also loves to play and has done well with dogs of all sizes …. some who want to play with her and others who refuse.  JJ takes a minute to say hi but will gladly make friends with you in exchange for some cheese or hotdogs.  She is crate trained and potty trained.  She needs a home without any cats and probably would be best without young kids.  And MOST IMPORTANTLY, JJ has the smooshiest, most velvety face ever, and she gives the best hugs and smooches.  JJ is spayed, microchipped, and current on her vaccines.  Her adoption fee is $250 and you can apply at www.rescueofhope.com/adopt/
