Furry Friday

The following animals are available for adoption.  If you find an animal you’d like to adopt please contact the organization directly.  Lowell’s First Look does not assist with the adoption process.  And if you’re looking to add to your family and don’t see an animal below, each organization has additional animals looking for new homes.   Pet profiles and photos are provided by each organization.

Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary

Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.

They call me Baby Bug because in your arms is my happy place! I love getting attention and being a true lap dog, other than I weigh about 27lbs. A home that can provide ample amounts of laps for me to curl up on is a must. I am not shy and will tell you when I feel I am not getting the attention I deserve.

I do love to run and play just as much as being a lap warmer. I am selective when it comes to canine playmates. I have lived with dogs in the past but I can be pretty dominant to other dogs. I have done well for my kids intros, so I would do well in a home with children.

If you are ready to bring home a cuddley Baby Bug, submit your adoption application today!

Salutations! My name is Sallie! When it comes to making new friends, less is more with me. I like to approach new people and things at my own pace. I have been described as “the bravest shy dog” because even if I am a little unsure, I want to investigate and check things out still. I love to cuddle and play with dogs, and cats. Calmer energy is ideal for me, I am uncomfortable with wild-child energy.

I came from a home that I lived with cats, a child, and other dogs. Unfortunately, I had a little more play energy than anticipated for dogs that were quite a bit smaller than me, so I ended up here at MAS. Staff and volunteers are great, but this is a home along the way for me…I am ready to go to my forever home; with some gentle and positive encouragement to help my confidence, I have the right stuff to be the ultimate best friend and perfectly balanced dog!

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue looks to find dogs and sometimes cats in their care forever homes with the help of foster homes.  Here are their pets of the week.

Playdoh is a 2 year old, 55 pound cocktail of breeds. Given her athleticism and incredible nose, she seems to be equal parts herding dog, hound, and pittie. Playdoh loves to be active and is incredibly smart, and would love to hang out with a family that can take her on hikes and adventures so she can sniff to her heart’s content! Playdoh does have fear reactivity to new people and will need a slow introduction on her own terms, but her foster mom has taught her to ‘check in’ by touching her nose to you when she gets overwhelmed and this has been working great (we told you she was smart!). She will need a relatively low-traffic home without cats or kids but does great with other dogs, especially ones that love to play hard. Playdoh is crate trained, potty trained, spayed, and up to date on all vaccines.  Her adoption fee is $250. To adopt Playdoh apply at www.rescueofhope.com/adoption-application

Gunner is a 75 pound, 6 year old GSD Mix who came to our Rescue from Ohio. Look at that smile !! Gunner is super smart, and he loves to learn new things – he knows many basic commands, and he even knows all the words to Disney’s Moana !! He’s also so sweet, friendly, amazing and lovable. He’s just perfect. Gunner loves everyone he meets, and he creates smiles and laughter wherever he goes. He’s house trained and he does very well with other dogs and with humans of all ages !! This sweet boy is finishing his heart worm treatment, so he will need a supportive home to help him through the treatment. The Rescue is sponsoring this care with a local veterinarian practice. Gunner is neutered, microchipped and up to date on shots. His adoption fee is $250.
