Furry Friday

The following animals are available for adoption.  If you find an animal you’d like to adopt please contact the organization directly.  Lowell’s First Look does not assist with the adoption process.  And if you’re looking to add to your family and don’t see an animal below, each organization has additional animals looking for new homes.   Pet profiles and photos are provided by each organization.

Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary

Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.

Where are all the German Shepherd Lovers?….I am a super amazing handsome man!

Hi there, my name is Hyde. I came to Mackenzie’s, and it was discovered that I was heartworm positive, which is so sad since it’s super preventable. Treatments don’t feel the best and made me feel sick!…so please use heartworm preventative on your furry friends.

After many long weeks of treatment, I am now heartworm free and am ready to meet my forever family! Since I had to be on restrictions for so long, I am ready to go, go, go!

Long walks, jogging, playing, playing with other dogs, and practicing training are some of my favorite things!

I have been introduced to some children at MAS and did very well, they gave me treats, I gave them some kisses, and then they gave me a good brushing, which felt great! I have been introduced to other dogs at MAS, and have been a bit selective with my canine friends. But I have played well with some other dogs. My only deal breaker is cats, I cannot live in a home with cats.

I am very smart boy and am ready to have a structured home life. I hope you fill out an adoption application so you can come out and meet me yourself. www.mackenzies.info

I was adopted from Mackenzie’s a long time ago, but my adopter unfortunately passed away and now I’m back at MAS. It’s really nice here, but I hope to find a new forever home, perhaps with a fellow retiree. I love being with people, playing with toys, cuddling, kids, and even cats.

I love using my nose and will follow whatever scent I can find. For that reason, I need a secure physically fenced in yard to keep me safe.

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue looks to find dogs and sometimes cats in their care forever homes with the help of foster homes.  Here are their pets of the week.

Kai is about 5 months old and currently weighs around 35 pounds.  He looks like a lab mix to us but you never really know.  Kai is doing great with his potty training and crate training!  He’s really getting the hang of living in a house for the first time.  He loves to play with the large dog in his foster home and play with toys!  (shoes count as toys right?). He’s a playful guy who would love to take a class with his forever family so he can learn all the new things and figure out ways to use his brain!  Kai would love a fenced in yard where he could zoomie to his heart’s content!  Kai is microchipped, current on his vaccines, and will be neutered before he goes to his forever home.  His adoption fee is $300 and you can apply to adopt Kai at www.rescueofhope.com/adopt/

Raina ended up at the shelter after someone left her chained to a stop sign.  Yup.  Don’t get us started.  She spent a couple of months at the shelter but was shut down and overwhelmed by that environment.  When the shelter found an opportunity for her to go to a foster home they were thrilled she was getting the chance she deserved.  Since being with her foster family, she has come alive.  (Eat your hearts out, stop sign jerks.)  She does well with the senior dog in her home but would love a younger playful dog friend.  She would also thrive as an only dog and the center of your world and would make an AMAZING hiking or camping buddy.

Raina’s absolute favorite thing to do is learn and work as a team with her human.  She thrives with rewards while she shows you what a smarty pants she is, learning things faster than you thought possible!  Raina’s ideal human(s) will enjoy training as much as she does and hiking or running together.  Raina currently lives with cats in her foster home and gets along with everyone but she will chase the kitties if they run.  Raina is a about 45 pounds and probably around 3 years old and ready to find her family.  She is spayed, microchipped, and current on her vaccines.  Her adoption fee is $250 and you can apply to adopt Raina at www.rescueofhope.com/adopt/
