Furry Friday

The following animals are available for adoption.  If you find an animal you’d like to adopt please contact the organization directly.  Lowell’s First Look does not assist with the adoption process.  And if you’re looking to add to your family and don’t see an animal below, each organization has additional animals looking for new homes.   Pet profiles and photos are provided by each organization.

Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary

Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.

Hi, I’m Boo – but don’t let my name scare you, I’m a gentle giant that is looking to complete my perfect forever family!

I’m one of the sweetest and kindest dogs you could ever meet. I like plenty of snacks, long walks, car rides, lots of snuggles and plenty of attention! Meeting people is one of my favorite things in the whole world. I love kids, but older kids are more likely able to handle my big boy size. I am what is called “dog selective” which means while I have made some doggy friends at MAS, I didn’t get along with every dog. I might be good in a home with another dog, but it would come down to a dog introduction. I am not a good fit for a family that has cats, wants to go to a dog park, or has a lot of puppy play dates.

If you think I’d be a good fit for your home (which I feel like I would be) fill out an application today!

This adorable little lady is Puka. She and a few other Puggles we have right now, finally have a clean bill of health and are ready to meet their forever people…..Puka and two of her tiny babies, along with many more, were taken from a Michigan puppy mill.

She is very shy of people, but who wouldn’t be after what she’s been through. She is very docile, but has a very sweet personality, there is no fear aggression with her. She wants attention and will ask for it once she knows your intentions. Please give this sweet girl the chance at seeing how a true forever friend should be treated like.

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue looks to find dogs and sometimes cats in their care forever homes with the help of foster homes.  Here are their pets of the week.

Abby Harper is a VERY sweet, 11 week old, happy go lucky pittie mix who can’t wait to find her forever family💕 She is loving life in her foster home and adores playing with alllll of her foster siblings (2 fur and 3 human) who are all teaching her how to be polite with kiddos AND how to ‘dog’🥰 She already understands ‘sit’ and does so very politely before she gets her food or treats💕 She also already knows her marker word (‘YES!’) – she is SUCH a smart, fun girl and so eager to learn.  Just like any puppy her age, she is working on potty training and leash walking and would thrive at a puppy class where she can be the ⭐️ of the show. She deserves the very best and we are officially on the hunt for her people.  ❤️  Abby is spayed, microchipped and current on her vaccines.  Her adoption fee is $300 and you can apply to lover her forever at www.rescueofhope.com/adopt

Barbacoa aka “Barb” as we call him, is a fun and spunky boy 2 year old German Shepherd mix! Does excellent with other dogs, would actually benefit from another confident  dog companion. Although, Barb is a social butterfly with his doggo pals, he can be shy upon meeting new people. Does great when worked with someone who can make meeting people positive and slow. He’s a bit of a bouncy dog so he’d love a family to take him on hikes, or other fun active things! Bonus is he’s doing great with his tiny foster human (Kennedy 2 year old little girl)! A week ago he would’ve loved nothing more than to satisfy his over excitement by jumping on her 😜 but now he’s a distinguished gentlemen and gives gentle drive by kisses while staying on the ground. Barbacoa will be neutered at the end of this month and then he will be ready for his forever family! His adoption fee is $250.

Holliday’s Exotic Avian Rescue Team

HEART specializes in rehoming birds when all other alternatives have been considered. Based in Lowell, birds are fostered primarily in Lowell or White Pigeon. Here are their pets of the week.

Will is a senior citizen at 25 years old. He’s confirmed male(DNA tattoo). He’s charming once he warms up to you, loves to give kisses and talk. Will would do best with someone who understands the species, since senegals tend to not do well with others. He has been previously around another bird, however we cannot guarantee he would get along with another.

Location: Lowell, MI

Adoption fee: $300
