Furry Friday

The following animals are available for adoption.  If you find an animal you’d like to adopt please contact the organization directly.  Lowell’s First Look does not assist with the adoption process.  And if you’re looking to add to your family and don’t see an animal below, each organization has additional animals looking for new homes.   Pet profiles and photos are provided by each organization.

Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary

Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.

Looking for the sweetest senior dog out there? Here she is!! Indie has all the best hound qualities: loving and devoted, incredibly sweet, and up for any outdoor adventure! Not only is Indie the perfect mix of an expert cuddlier, but she is also an avid birdwatcher and nature aficionado. She is happy to snuggle up or entertain herself!

Some of Indie’s hobbies are: chasing and telling vermin like those pesky squirrels and rabbits to “get off my lawn”, sniffling every blade of grass out on walks, and car rides. Because Indie has the trademark hound prey drive, she would thrive as the only pet in the home. But she has done exceptionally well with the volunteer kids she has met at MAS.

Indie has been patiently waiting for her perfect forever family….but you know what they say, all good things come to those who wait! Potential adopters should be aware that Indie is on some medications for arthritis, allergies, and blood pressure.

Salutations! My name is Sallie! When it comes to making new friends, less is more with me. I like to approach new people and things at my own pace. I have been described as “the bravest shy dog” because even if I am a little unsure, I want to investigate and check things out still. I love to cuddle and play with dogs, and cats. Calmer energy is ideal for me, I am uncomfortable with wild-child energy.

I came from a home that I lived with cats, a child, and other dogs. Unfortunately, I had a little more play energy than anticipated for dogs that were quite a bit smaller than me, so I ended up here at MAS. Staff and volunteers are great, but this is a home along the way for me…I am ready to go to my forever home; with some gentle and positive encouragement to help my confidence, I have the right stuff to be the ultimate best friend and perfectly balanced dog!

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue looks to find dogs and sometimes cats in their care forever homes with the help of foster homes.  Here are their pets of the week.

Dexter is a truly special, once in a lifetime dog. We just adore him. He is the happiest boy, and he loves life so much. He brings so much warmth and happy to any environment he’s in. Dexter is a 4 month old GSD Staffy Mix who loves cuddles, sharing his toys, and making his humans smile. He has a very thoughtful brow and the most loving, kind, beautiful brown eyes. Dexter is doing a fantastic job with his crate training and dog training, and he does very well with cats, dogs and humans of all ages !! He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on shots. His adoption fee is $300. To adopt Dexter apply at www.rescueofhope.com/adoption-application

Pippi the Puppy !! Pippi is an insanely cute 16 week old Staffy Puppy who gives the best hugs !! She is very outgoing and confident, and loves to meet new people and new pups. She’s doing a fantastic job with her crate training and house training; but she will need a patient human to continue this training. She will need to be in a home (no apartments) that will take her to Puppy Classes and help socialize her and teach her the best things. She does very well with dogs and humans of all ages. Pippi is spayed, microchipped and up to date on shots. Her adoption fee is $300. To adopt Pippi apply at www.rescueofhope.com/adoption-application

Bella is a Hahns macaw who has quite the personality! She loves to be out and to be around people. She came from a home where she was loved dearly but they were gone a lot, causing her to pluck. So she does need someone who is home more often than not. She will step up but can be sassy! Bella does come with a cage. *Parrot Project not included in adoption fee.

Location: Lowell, MI

Adoption Fee: $400
