Furry Friday

The following animals are available for adoption.  If you find an animal you’d like to adopt please contact the organization directly.  Lowell’s First Look does not assist with the adoption process.  And if you’re looking to add to your family and don’t see an animal below, each organization has additional animals looking for new homes.   Pet profiles and photos are provided by each organization.

Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary

Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.

Don’t worry, the only thing Bandit is out to steal is your heart! A big blockhead and couch potato at heart. Bandit is one of the most laid-back dogs to ever grace our kennels. While he isn’t opposed to going for walks and/or playing, he is just more content to lay down (frog legged every time) and chew on his favorite toy. Toys seem to be Bandit’s one vice because he doesn’t seem to like being far from his toys. Every time he is taken for a walk, he wants to bring his toy with him. He usually carries it halfway through the walk before he drops it. At which point it’s up to his human to carry it the rest of the way. He is nothing but a big cuddle bug. He loves spending time with our kid volunteers. He would be most comfortable being the only pet in his new home.

Fill out an application and meet this potato boy today!

Looking for a well rounded, laid back, super sweet dog? Right here I am! My name is Daphne; I came from a loving home, but through no fault of my own came to MAS looking for a forever home. I come well trained with great manners, but I am treat motivated if you want to “teach an old dog new tricks”.

A huge plus about me, I am happy to snuggle with you on the couch or play with my human friends, but I am also content to do my own thing and vegg out. I have lived with a dog previously, and might be a good fit to go to a home with another dog. I also met a thing called a cat at MAS, I wasn’t really sure what it was….it meowed at me and I kindof wanted to chase it (which I imagine some cats would not appreciate) but I think with some positive exposure and patience, I could get used to living with one.

I hope we can meet soon – you just have to submit your adoption application to get the ball rolling!

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue looks to find dogs and sometimes cats in their care forever homes with the help of foster homes.  Here are their pets of the week.

Domino is 32 pounds of ridiculously cute and sassy Basset Hound Mix !! Affectionately nicknamed Bugsy, Domino is a very loving and energetic ball of cute fun. He is always ready for an adventure, and absolutely loves being with his humans. He is doing a great job with his house training, but he prefers to have free range of the home. Domino loves to run; he will do best in an active home with a fenced in yard. And he would especially love a forever family that is home most of the day. He does very well with other dogs. Domino takes time to adapt to new people, especially children. He needs proper introductions, patience and repetition. He would do best in a home that doesn’t have younger children residents or visitors due to his energy level. This very special boy will need an experienced and patient family to work on his behaviors, particularity introductions. His adoption fee is $250. Domino is neutered, microchipped and up to date on shots. To adopt Domino apply at www.rescueofhope.com/adoption-application

Pippi the Puppy !! Pippi is an insanely cute 16 week old Staffy Puppy who gives the best hugs !! She is very outgoing and confident, and loves to meet new people and new pups. She’s doing a fantastic job with her crate training and house training; but she will need a patient human to continue this training. She will need to be in a home (no apartments) that will take her to Puppy Classes and help socialize her and teach her the best things. She does very well with dogs and humans of all ages. Pippi is spayed, microchipped and up to date on shots. Her adoption fee is $300. To adopt Pippi apply at www.rescueofhope.com/adoption-application

Holliday’s Exotic Avian Rescue Team

HEART specializes in rehoming birds when all other alternatives have been considered. Based in Lowell, birds are fostered primarily in Lowell or White Pigeon. Here are their pets of the week.

Bobo and Elvis are the unicorn of Cockatoos, Bobo was my go to for educational exhibits, he’s also done a couple of cool photo shoots before they were adopted out, they only came back because the owner had health issues.
They are bonded boys and will only be adopted out together, I follow veterinary recommendations for cage sizes so they will require at least two times the wingspan. That information can be found on Natural inspirations cages website pinned at the top.
They were just seen by an avian vet Sunday, they are both micro chipped and had a Depo implant, I find that helps them settle into new homes easier.

Adoption Fee: $1200
Location: Shipshewana, IN
