Furry Friday

The following animals are available for adoption.  If you find an animal you’d like to adopt please contact the organization directly.  Lowell’s First Look does not assist with the adoption process.  And if you’re looking to add to your family and don’t see an animal below, each organization has additional animals looking for new homes.   Pet profiles and photos are provided by each organization.

Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary

Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.

Hello friend! All around good boy Garth here, looking to brighten up everyone’s day! As a 57lb wanna be lap dog, I am the happiest when I am interacting with people, of all ages. I love pets, belly rubs, play time, and showing off my tricks!

I have done well meeting other dogs at MAS, so having a canine companion would be great fun! I am still pretty new here, so I haven’t been introduced to a cat yet to see if I would be just as enthusiastic about a kitty sibling. But as soon as I meet a cat, my bio will be updated; or if you are interested in adopting me and you have a cat, you can always submit an application and MAS will put a rush on my meet and greet with a cat!

Overall, I am a really loveable and easy going guy that would make a fantastic addition to complete your family. What are you waiting for? Head over to the MAS website and submit an application for the best friend you could ever ask for!

I might share my name with a gloomy donkey, but I am anything but! Unlike the depressive Disney character, I am a loveable guy with my human companions. I like to lean in for some snuggles and give sweet little kisses. Because I appreciate entering new friendships at a slower pace, I would be best in a calm adult only home. As with many rescue dogs that have had the unfortunate background of being abandoned, I am looking for someone to bring me home and spend some extra time to help me really get comfortable. Being in a home that has a lot of people coming and going might be a little too overwhelming for me.

Some of my highlighting traits are that I seem to be crate trained, I know a few commands already, I love to swim (as long as I can touch the bottom), and I am treat motivated. This will come in handy when I go home and we start working on confidence and building a solid foundation for our friendship! My toys are one of my most favorite parts of life! I love to carry toys with me on walks, play fetch, and hangout on my doggy bed to entertain myself.

I am still pretty new to MAS, so I have not had a formal dog introduction yet. I have been introduced to a cat though, I was a little unsure, but the MAS team thinks with some positive association and socialization with a cat I would be more comfortable.

If your interested in meeting me, check out the Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary website below, and make sure you include my name on your adoption application!

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue looks to find dogs and sometimes cats in their care forever homes with the help of foster homes.  Here are their pets of the week.

Abbit is a 25 pound, 4 month old Staffy/Lab Mix Puppy with the cutest little face!! You are literally getting the best of both worlds with the baby. He is a fun puppy, but 100% crate and house trained. Gahhh look at this cute, tiny, mischievous, smushable, squeezable face !! We love him.  Abbit is loving life in his foster home; he is learning all the good things: how to be a dog, how to give and accept ridiculously lovable snuggles, what shows are best ie Schitt’s Creek and Ted Lasso, and he is learning some basic commands. He would love to take Puppy Classes with his forever humans. He is smart, energetic, and loves to learn new things – especially Algebra. Abbit LOVES other dogs and is great with kids!! He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on shots. His adoption fee is $300. To adopt Abbit apply at www.rescueofhope.com/adoption-application

Jett is 6 month old lab mix, full of fun, smart and ready to learn. Jett loves other dogs! He would do best in a home with at least one other dog to keep him company and help mentor him in being his best self. He does well with older kids (little ones will likely get knocked down with his high energy) and is really good with cats. He loves to play, he will chase a ball but doesn’t always bring it back. He likes to chew on Nylabones and tear apart stuffies! But needs to be reminded from time to time that toys are for chewing- not shoes! Jett is doing really well on house training. As amazing as he is, he is still a puppy; we are working on not jumping up, and walking on a leash, though he learns fast. He would love an active household as he is very excited in the mornings and ready to get up and go! Crate training is still a work in progress, as he can be quite the Houdini! Since he came to Hearts of Hope as a stray (and is a known escape artist), he would do best with a fenced in yard that will allow him to run around to burn off his energy safely and contained! Overall, he is a very loving boy and gladly accepts all the love that can be given. And as if he isn’t already cute enough, he also has an overbite that makes him even more adorable! Jett is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines and his adoption fee is $300.
