Furry Friday

The following animals are available for adoption.  If you find an animal you’d like to adopt please contact the organization directly.  Lowell’s First Look does not assist with the adoption process.  And if you’re looking to add to your family and don’t see an animal below, each organization has additional animals looking for new homes.   Pet profiles and photos are provided by each organization.

Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary

Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.

Hank is a very quiet and subtle guy (in the sweetest way) while he is warming up and getting to know new friends. Once he does warm up, he oozes sweetness and loves to give kisses and be affectionate! He is not the party-pooch type, he is much more low-key and prefers to keep his social circle very intimate with his human companions.

You can usually find Hank, hanging out right next to his favorite people and soaking up all the love he can get from his best friends. When he is feeling more frisky, he loves playing fetch and making new canine friends to play and run around with. Hank came from a home with several other dogs and has made many canine friends here at MAS. Hank is still a young dog, his potential is as great as his new family’s effort!

“There ain’t a man livin’ who hasn’t talked to his dog.” – Hank Williams

Lets be honest, the last couple years have been very rough on us all….who doesn’t need a non-judgmental ear to vent to these days? For a chance to meet Hank and learn even more about him, check out the MAS website and submit an application to the link below!

Hank 1

Hello, I am Purdita the pretty! My personality is very typical Akita. Loyal, intelligent, stoic, and the perfect mix of independent and affectionate with my human friends! Potential adopters with young families should be aware I am a newer resident at MAS, and have not had the opportunity for a child introduction. My bio will be updated as soon as I have a formal meet and greet!

Some dogs are fun to play with, but I prefer dogs my size. Smaller animals are a little too tempting for me to be pushy with. So that means a home with smaller dogs or cats is not for me. I love chase games with dogs my size. I am not very into full contact sports. I am a playful gal though, play is the name of my game! I love plush toys and tennis ball toys the best (even though sometimes I get a little bit carried away with them).

If you are looking for show-stopping good looks, paired with a sweet and lovable personality…check out the MAS website below and submit your application!

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue looks to find dogs and sometimes cats in their care forever homes with the help of foster homes.  Here are their pets of the week.

Meet Callie the cuddle bug Pitty Mix! This pretty girl is about a year old, 35 pounds, and super sweet and goofy. She loves people, plays well with playful dogs, and loves toys and treats. She wants to keep you warm and use you as a body pillow. She’s still working on her manners and can be jumpy and a little mouthy when excited, but she’s smart, eager to please and very food motivated so would do great with a bit of training or some obedience lessons! She loves walks but could use some continued work on her leash skills too. She’s done great with house training and crate training. She’s energetic but can also be very mellow after a good walk or play session. She’s young and loves life and eager to become your best friend and newest family member! Her adoption fee is $250. Callie is spayed, up to date on vaccines and microchipped.

Our adorable little Squirrel is such a special, lovable soul. Squirrel is a 19 pound, 6 month old Staffy Mix with the cutest face and the most beautiful brown eyes. He is learning how to be a dog, and he is flourishing in his foster home. Some things we learned about Squirrel: he can be a touch shy at first; but opens up very nicely, especially if there is another dog around – he absolutely loves dogs. He will need a patient and supportive home to keep teaching him how to dog and take him to Puppy Classes. He will need a fenced in yard in his forever home, and he will do best in a home without smaller children. Squirrel is doing a fantastic job with his crate training and house training, and he loves cuddles with his humans. He has so much love to give, and he gives it so freely. Also, he looks amazing in sweaters !! Squirrel is neutered, microchipped and up to date on shots.  His adoption fee is only $250. To adopt Squirrel apply at www.rescueofhope.com/adoption-application
