And if you’re looking to add to your family and don’t see an animal below, each organization has additional cats, dogs, or farm animals looking for new homes.   Pet profiles and photos are provided by each organization.

For additional information about each organization visit their websites or read our intro article to Furry Friday!  The following pet profiles are provided by each rescue.

Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary

Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.

Ethel, Greta, and their siblings were born on 3/18/18. They have a wonderful and tiny momma named Minni. She is a Bassett hound mix. There are 9 puppies all together, and we are ready to start accepting applications now. Please be patient though, as the puppies will not be ready for adoption until after they are 8 weeks old and medically cleared.

Carol’s Ferals

Carol’s Ferals specializes in trap, neuter, return (TNR), but they come across “friendlies” who are available for adoption. Here are their pets of the week.

Bug (Female/Gray)
Want a girl who’s cute as a Bug but won’t buzz in your ear?  That’s me! I don’t play with the other cats, but I love it when humans pet me.  I’ve been told I have the cutest meow when I am trying to get humans attention. I can be a little sassy and will let you know when I’ve had enough loving.  There’s a chance I may not do well with younger children.

Halley (Female/Calico)
You’ve got to admit I am beautiful and would look lovely lounging anywhere!  I am a sweet girl who minds my own business. I started off shy but have become a very loving cat.  I would probably be best as an only cat. Come and get acquainted.

Birdie (Female/Black)
I am a kind of a shy tiny girl who loves to play.  I recently started meowing for attention and petting.  If you have windows and toys with time to play, come check me out!  One day that red dot will be MINE!

Vicky’s Pet Connection

Vicky’s Pet Connection works with the Kent County Animal Shelter to rescue cats and kittens.  They also take in dogs older in age and those needing special care. Here are their pets of the week.

Finnegan-Would you look at this gorgeous guy?  This is Finnegan and he is the guy your mother warned you about!  He’s a heart breaker who gives his love as HE sees fit and if you are the lucky one he gives it to….look out!  Finnegan is a really smart cat who likes to stay busy.   He plays “fetch” with toys, enjoys searching for hidden treats and can’t get enough bird-watching out the window.  If you happened to have a big house with a few mice…he would likely be an awesome exterminator because he has very quick reflexes and amazing focus!  Finnegan likes to pick and choose which people he gets close to but is VERY affectionate to the ones he chooses!  His favorite people get tons of head butts and purrs and laptime with this handsome guy.  We think that Finnegan would like to be the only pet in the home of a true “cat person”!  Is that you?
Gordo- Meet Gordo! This handsome, mature gentlemen found himself alone in a shelter just at the point in his life that he should be enjoying an active “second act”! So, he’s been hanging out in one of our foster homes while we search for just the right home for this guy!
We’re not sure exactly what combination of breeds Gordo (Chihuahua? Corgi?) but we DO know that he is 100% cute! We’re guessing him to be around 7-8 years of age and we’re looking for a quieter home without young children where he can practice his highly-refined “chill skills” (he’s a pretty laid-back dude!). Gordo is fine with other gentle dogs and doesn’t seem concerned with cats. He would prefer a quieter home where he can just enjoy hanging out and tottering around after his people. Gordo also has a nice, white smile because he recently had a dental cleaning!
Gordo enjoys a nice stroll on a leash (which would help him continue on his weight loss journey) and is always game for a ride in the car. He is a little shy at first but the longer he has been with his foster mom, the more of his goofy personality has come out. He is very affectionate to his trusted people and can be a real love-bug. He’s just a nice, laid-back companion and we look forward to helping to find him a perfect place to spend his “‘golden years”.
