The following animals are available for adoption.  If you find an animal you’d like to adopt please contact the organization directly.  Lowell’s First Look does not assist with the adoption process. And if you’re looking to add to your family and don’t see an animal below, each organization has additional cats, dogs, or farm animals looking for new homes.   Pet profiles and photos are provided by each organization.

For additional information about each organization visit their websites or read our intro article to Furry Friday!  The following pet profiles are provided by each rescue.

Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary

Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.

My name is Ducati!! I am still really a pup, but am really well-rounded for a youngster. I am good with kids, cats, (though I may try to chase) and other dogs. My D.O.B. is 4/11/16. I am active, and would be great in a home with people who like to get out and walk or run. I would love to go on trail walks, and just hang out with my people. I am fine with kids, but would prefer older kids. Too young of children, make me nervous. Something about their energy. I am so loving and cuddly I have been told, and just love to snuggle on occasion.

My name is Cash. I was born on 4/09/18. My Momma’s name is Nala. She was not the dog who raised me though. Her name was Minni. I have three brothers and sisters, and am one of the sweetest puppies ever!! Or so the staff at MAS say. They are taking applications for adoption now. Myself and my siblings will not be available until closer to the end of June.

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue look to find dogs in their care forever homes with the help of foster homes.  Here are their pets of the week.

Mamma Mia is a 1-2 year old lab/hound mix. She is a very sweet girl and loves life. She enjoys playing with other dogs, but she can also entertain herself with toys. Mia needs a home with a fenced in yard so she can safely play without wandering off after a good smell or a small critter. Her new family will need to take her to training classes to help build her confidence and learn basic commands. She loves food and attention so she should be a lot of fun to work with on new tricks. She already knows sit and come! Mia needs help building her confidence in public places and to learn the world isn’t so scary. She warms up to people quickly and once she does she loves to snuggle and get as close to you as she can. Sometimes she gets so close you have no choice but to hug her! We aren’t sure how Mia is with cats and she likes kids but is a little unsure at first, but we require a home visit so if you have cats or kids Mia could meet them then! Mia got pregnant very young and had 8 puppies that have all been adopted, so now it’s her turn to find a perfect forever home! Mia is crate trained, house trained, spayed, microchipped, and up to date on shots. Her adoption fee is $200. To adopt Mia apply at www.rescueofhope.com/adoption-application/

This happy, goofy, hug monster is Blake! Blake is 52 pounds of adorable Little Rascal. She is a very outgoing, social butterfly who loves other dogs. She would do best in a home with older kids.
Although she can be a touch shy at first, she really comes out of her shell with a little patience and shows off her loving, playful personality. Once she trusts you, Blake will be your best friend forever.
She has the biggest smile and she loves to wear it. She is a 9 month old Staffy Mix and knows basic commands, but she would benefit from an obedience class to help her build her confidence and trust with her new family. Blake would love a dog friend in her new home, but since she thinks cats can be fun to bother a home without cats would be best. She is up to date on her vaccinations, spayed and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $200. Apply to adopt Blake here: https://rescueofhope.com/adopt ion-application

Carol’s Ferals

Carol’s Ferals specializes in trap, neuter, return (TNR), but they come across “friendlies” who are available for adoption. Here are their pets of the week.

Brahms (Male/Black and White)
I am a lap cat extraordinaire!  I will greet you at the door then sit with you and purr lullabies in your ear. All I ask for is a comfortable lap and lots of love.  I’m not quite the composer as my namesake, but I have been known to make hearts sing.

Brother Kitty (Male/Black with White Chest and White Streak on Nose)

I’m known for my brotherly LOVE.  I am a lap cat who loves to purr and make biscuits.  If you are looking for a little brother who happens to be a cat, come check me out!

Jojan (Female/Black)

It’s been a slow process, but I finally trust humans enough to ask for pets.  I still tend to run when people approach me too quickly.  I’m looking for a special person who will patiently teach me how to accept love more readily.  I’m willing to try, are you?

Vicky’s Pet Connection

Vicky’s Pet Connection works with the Kent County Animal Shelter to rescue cats and kittens.  They also take in dogs older in age and those needing special care. Here are their pets of the week.

Who says a guy can’t look great in long hair? This is Butters and he is an absolutely beautiful 10 month old orange and white tabby. He’s not telling us much about his past but we have a feeling he may have had a hard start in life. He came to us quite matted with poor quality fur and his tail is unusually short and kinked. Luckily, he enjoys the attention of being brushed so he is getting back to his beautiful self with a little help. Butters is a little shy when you first meet him but he just melts when he knows that you’re a good person and you just want to be friends with him. In fact, he’s almost impossible to photograph because he’s either rolling around or trying to get closer to the photographer for some petting! He’s hanging out at the Critter Cottage in Ada if you’d like to meet this nice fellow.
