And if you’re looking to add to your family and don’t see an animal below, each organization has additional cats, dogs, or farm animals looking for new homes. Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary
Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.
Benny is a boy who really needs a steady home. He originally came from a rescue in Texas, and then was brought to another rescue before MAS. He is a big snugly sweetie when he settles down for the night. He is a higher energy dog, and loves to run in the play yards, and seems so far to be okay with other dogs. He also can settle down and relax while you work on the computer or watch TV. He did fine with the children on our kid intros. He would need a home with no cats, as he is not fond of them.
Kylo came to MAS because his owner could not take him to an apartment. Too big. His D.O.B. is 5/30/15. He is a goofy sweetheart. He likes to snuggle into you and get petted and loved on. He likes toys but may try to shred them after a bit. He could use kongs and nyla bones. He likes ice cubes in his water. He did very well on our cat intro. He is big so really small kids may get pushed over, but he does like children. He needs an active outdoor family, just to play and get his energy out.
Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue
Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue look to find dogs in their care forever homes with the help of foster homes. Here are their pets of the week.
This sweet girl has a special place in our rescue. She has had a rough start to her life. After being found in an abandoned house with her 9 puppies, Blossom came to our rescue from our good friends at Detroit Pit Crew. While you can tell Blossom’s life hasn’t always been great, she is extremely sweet and affectionate. She can be a bit timid around men at first and flinches at fast movements or loud noises. Blossom needs slow introductions to dogs, but after a short while and a little bit of familiarity she is very playful and kind. We aren’t yet sure how she does around cats or smaller children. Blossom will need a home with lots of love, guidance, experience, and patience. We recommend a home that will take her to obedience classes, not only to train her on good habits and behaviors, but to build that very important bond with her new family. She is a hard worker, and she is so eager to please; in the right environment this amazing girl will flourish and shine so brightly. She has already learned ‘sit’, ‘down’, and ‘roll over’. Blossom is also crate trained and house trained! She is a 45 pound, 2 year old Staffy Mix. Blossom will be microchipped, spayed, and up to date on her vetting. This big, lovable doofus is Balou! Balou is a 1 year old, 70 pound GSD mix who came to our rescue all the way from our sister organization, Animals Lebanon in Beirut, Lebanon. He is so much fun! He’s sweet, happy, and has the most positive attitude about everything. He’s smart and loves to learn; he knows basic commands including sit, down, and shake and is learning more things everyday! Balou would do best in a home without cats and children under 8. He loves dogs and he loves to play. Balou is house trained, crate trained, and would benefit from puppy classes.
