Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary
Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.
My name is Nala. My D.O.B. is 11/25/16. I came to MAS from a different shelter. I also came to MAS with puppies. I am a super shy girl, and need very patient and shy owners. I love to cuddle, but am afraid of new things or being surprised. I would do best in a home with adults who can give me lots of love and attention. I would love to be slowly introduced to new things. I have done well meeting other dogs at MAS and have done fine with our kennel managers cats. I love to walk and spend time with our volunteers, and will make a great addition to your home.
Hux is a super cool dude. His D.O.B. is 5/09/17. He is still really a puppy. He is so excited to see you he may jump up and be a little mouthy. He just needs a patient owner to work with him on some of those things. He would love to go for walks and short runs with you, on a cool summer morning or evening. He would be best with older kids for now, but in time and with some socialization, would be a great family dog. He loves to play with toys and really likes to be the center of attention with his humans. He was in the adoption coordinators office and really settled down and just was content laying on the bed and hanging out.
Vicky’s Pet Connection
Vicky’s Pet Connection works with the Kent County Animal Shelter to rescue cats and kittens. They also take in dogs older in age and those needing special care. Here are their pets of the week.
Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue
Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue look to find dogs in their care forever homes with the help of foster homes. Here are their pets of the week.
Meet Bart! He’s a 2-year-old male chihuahua mix that was found as a stray and brought to the shelter. He was terrified there so the kind people at the shelter contacted us to foster him. Bart has been in his foster home for about two weeks and he has settled in great. Like a typical chihuahua, he has a lot of personality packed into his small stature. His foster family is working on introducing him to new situations and helping him build confidence, but he will need a home that continues this training. It takes him a while to warm up to new people, but he will be your best friend when he learns to trust you. Bart would do best in a home without kids, but loves other dogs and is great with cats. Bart is house and kennel trained, knows some basic commands, and is learning to walk on a leash. He has a lot of energy so he’ll need a family to give him sufficient exercise. His favorite thing to do is play fetch! Due to his speed, he would do best with a fenced in yard. His adoption fee is $200. To adopt Bart apply at www.rescueofhope.com/adoption-application/
This sweet girl has a special place in our rescue. Blossom came to our rescue from our good friends at Detroit Pit Crew after she and her 9 puppies were found in an abandoned building. She is extremely sweet and affectionate. She can be shy around men for just a quick second, but she always ends up giving them smooches! We aren’t yet sure how she does around cats or smaller children, but we know Blossom loves playing with her doggie pals. She is very playful and especially kind hearted. Blossom would love a relaxed home and she will fill it with so much love! We recommend a home that will take her to obedience classes to help build that very important bond with her new family. Blossom is going to shine so brightly in the home that is lucky enough to have her. She is a hard worker, and she is so eager to please. She has already learned ‘sit’, ‘down’, and ‘roll over’. Blossom is also crate trained and house trained! She is a 45 pound, 2 year old Staffy mix. Blossom is microchipped, spayed, and up to date on her vetting. Please consider this special girl, she deserves to be spoiled! Blossom’s adoption fee is $200. To adopt Blossom apply at www.rescueofhope.com/adoption-application/
