For additional information about each organization visit their websites or read our intro article to Furry Friday!  The following pet profiles are provided by each rescue.

Vicky’s Pet Connection

Vicky’s Pet Connection works with the Kent County Animal Shelter to rescue cats and kittens.  They also take in dogs older in age and those needing special care. Here are their pets of the week.

Do you know what an Abacus is? It’s an ancient counting gadget and having one would be helpful to count the extra toes on this guy!  Abacus is about 7 months old and is poly-dactyl which means he was born with extra toes!  This shy fellow needs a home and family where he can gain confidence at his own pace.  He seems to enjoy other nice cats so a home with another kitty would be fine. He is VERY playful and his silliness can really make us laugh!

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue look to find dogs in their care forever homes with the help of foster homes.  Here are their pets of the week.

Hi! My name is Skylar!

I’m a five month old sighthound from Beruit, Lebanon. I made the very long trip to Michigan at the end of April so I’d have a chance at finding my forever family.

Right now I’m about 25-30 lbs but everyone thinks I’ll get to be around 45-50 lbs. I’m tall and lanky because I’m built for running. I’m extremely active, very playful and curious of everything, so my family needs to have a fenced in yard.

I love people of all ages! But since I am a puppy, we’re still training on play biting and jumping. That being said, I should probably be in a home with older children or no children.

I also really like like cats (maybe a little to much) but should probably only be around very calm kitties. Hopefully I’ll find a home with another dog because I’d love the companionship!
She’s spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations. Her adoption fee is $300. Apply to adopt her here: https://rescueofhope.com/adoption-application/

This handsome boy with the happy smile and gorgeous blue eyes is one of the kindest dogs our rescue has ever had. Clouse came to our rescue from our good friends at Pound Buddies in Muskegon. He’s a senior pup, estimated around 8 years old, who weighs 70 pounds, and we believe he is a {Husky/Shepherd} mix. Clouse is so sweet and charming, everyone he meets loves him instantly. He has a very calming affect on people, and he has a gentle warmth about him that is so endearing. He loves dogs and humans of all ages. Clouse is chipped, neutered and up to date on his vetting. We are so excited to meet the family that will be lucky enough to welcome him into their home. His adoption fee is $200. To adopt Clouse apply at www.rescueofhope.com/adoption-application/
