Furry Friday

The following animals are available for adoption.  If you find an animal you’d like to adopt please contact the organization directly.  Lowell’s First Look does not assist with the adoption process.  And if you’re looking to add to your family and don’t see an animal below, each organization has additional cats, dogs, or farm animals looking for new homes.   Pet profiles and photos are provided by each organization.

For additional information about each organization visit their websites or read our intro article to Furry Friday!

Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary

Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.

Let me introduce myself, my name is Hobbes. My D.O.B. is 4/13/14. I was out running the roads when I was found and came to MAS. I used to be pretty mouthy and jumpy, but now I am doing so much better. I have worked on my commands, and walking skills, and if I do say so myself, I am doing really well. I may still bark at other dogs but even that has improved. I love to go for long walks and jogs with the team here. I even play with certain dogs. I would still be best with older kids. I would make a great companion for just the right person.

Fiesty Fudge is a treat!! His D.O.B. is 8/28/11. He likes to climb up on a chair and hang out. He is a great dog to tell your worries to. He acts like he’s listening but you never know. He does not have the largest toy drive, but he is willing to be taught new tricks. He likes to walk, but needs a special harness so it doesn’t put pressure on his neck.

Vicky’s Pet Connection

Vicky’s Pet Connection works with the Kent County Animal Shelter to rescue cats and kittens.  They also take in dogs older in age and those needing special care. Here are their pets of the week.

Hey y’all… meet Rufus! He is a SUPER handsome fella of the hound persuasion, and look out, because he will steal your heart! He has a very sweet and charming personality. He loves everyone he meets and the feeling seems to be mutual. He has been great with all the kids and smaller dogs that he has been introduced to. He is a laid back guy who takes his nap time very seriously. He also LOVES to go for walks on the leash and rides in the car. He is looking for a loving family to give his heart to, and vice-versa. Rufus would do best in a home that has a securely fenced-in yard, as his old nose is still in perfect working order, and like most hounds, he will follow it. We do not know for certain how Rufus would do with cats, but based on his personality, we think it would go fine with proper introduction.

This lovely girl is named Patience and she certainly earned her name! You see, she came into our program with a litter of 5 kittens and it took lots of patience to raise those naughty babies! Now, this sweet girl is ready for some rest and relaxation of her own! She is so buttery soft and has the most compelling eyes! Is her photo speaking to your heart? Then maybe YOU are the home she’s been waiting for!

Carol’s Ferals

Carol’s Ferals specializes in trap, neuter, return (TNR), but they come across “friendlies” who are available for adoption. Here are their pets of the week.

Yes, we still have kittens.  Come visit and check them out.

My name is Hemi.  When they found me, I had an infected tail wound and lost part of my tail.  I am extremely shy, so get overlooked when people come to check out cats.  If you are patient and want to work with me, I can become a more loving and social cat.  Do you have what it takes?

Magic Johnson, here – no relation but more handsome than the basketball player.  I enjoy playing red dot, and love to be petted.  Not a lap cat yet, but you could work with me.

Hi!  I am Mingus.  I mothered a litter brought in for adoption.  My children have been adopted, but I’m still here.  As you can see, I had my litter at a very young age, as I am estimated to be 1-1/2 years old.  I am very sweet, but still a little shy.  They say shy cats can become the best companions.  You won’t know until you try.
