Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary

Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.

My name is Dora. My D.O.B. is 6/08/17. Still a youngster. I really would love an active family that wants to get out and walk or run. I love attention and belly rubs, and hanging with you. I need slow introductions to busy life, like walks in busy areas, this can stress me, because I am just not used to it. I probably need an adult household to start with, but when I get more socialized with everything I’m sure I will be able to handle younger family members. I really like the agility building at MAS, and if you had extra time for that, I would love it.

My name is Diego! I was found as a stray and fortunately found my way to Mackenzie’s. I’m a lapdog at heart, but more officially I’m a chihuahua mix. I’m an older guy, so I’m mostly looking for a nice home with lots of love and cuddles to share. I’ve done well meeting other dogs, cats, and kids so far. Come see me soon!

Vicky’s Pet Connection

Vicky’s Pet Connection works with the Kent County Animal Shelter to rescue cats and kittens.  They also take in dogs older in age and those needing special care. Here are their pets of the week.

This beautiful girl is Jewell and she came to us with a litter of kittens. She was a wonderful momma but now her babies are off to find lives of their own and it’s HER time to shine! Jewell is even more beautiful in person then she is in her photos and has personality to spare. She is SUCH a nice girl. Truly, you will love this kitty if you meet her. She’s only around 2-3 years of age so she’s got plenty of spunk, energy and love to share!

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue look to find dogs and sometimes cats in their care forever homes with the help of foster homes.  Here are their pets of the week.

Riley is a big, lovable, cuddly, doofus! He is always happy, always smiling, and always ready to show his humans how much he loves them! Riley is an 8 year old Lab/Beagle mix who has two modes: cuddly sleeping buddy and happy walking buddy. Walks are his second favorite thing after being pet by anyone who wants to give him love. He is house trained and great with kids, cats, and laid back dogs. He is super easy going and very loving. He is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots. His adoption fee is $150. To adopt Riley apply at www.rescueofhope.com/adoption-application/

Penny is the sister to Maui. She is a 5 month old pit mix. She was sadly not in the best of conditions before she was rescued but she is sure happy now! She has a little way to go before she is fully healed. Her fur siblings and foster family are helping her along the way. She loves the company of other dogs and could play all day. If no one is up for playing Penny is happy to snuggle up to you or find a toy to chew on. The kennel is a safe place for Penny and she never protests a temporary stay there. Because of Penny’s history she is still learning the basics and is looking for a home that will work with her on all the puppy lessons. If you’re looking for a loyal companion and you’re eager to teach a pup all she needs to know, Penny is your gal. The perfect home ideally has a fur sibling to help show her the ropes and is willing to attend puppy class with her. She is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on her shots. Her adoption fee is $300. To meet this little sweetheart apply at www.rescueofhope.com/adoption-application/

Carol’s Ferals

Carol’s Ferals specializes in trap, neuter, return (TNR), but they come across “friendlies” who are available for adoption. Here are their pets of the week.

Hi I’m Beans I’m a small cat but don’t let that fool you.  I’ve been trying to teach my brothers manners like waiting to eat until I finish.  Sometimes they listen.  I’m looking for a furever home.

Hi, I’m Tony. I am a gentle giant and just want lovin! I am shy but once I get to know you, I am quite the lover boy! My foster mom says I always wanted attention and let her know when I needed pets!

Hi, I’m Catman. I am a shy boy but do I ever like to give hugs – I will wrap my whole body around you! My foster mom says the key to my heart is wet food! As for Beans, we get along good, even if I think she’s bossy at times.
