Furry Friday

The following animals are available for adoption.  If you find an animal you’d like to adopt please contact the organization directly.  Lowell’s First Look does not assist with the adoption process.  And if you’re looking to add to your family and don’t see an animal below, each organization has additional cats, dogs, or farm animals looking for new homes.   Pet profiles and photos are provided by each organization.

For additional information about each organization visit their websites or read our intro article to Furry Friday!

Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary

Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.  They are also having an open house at their facility tomorrow 11am-1pm!  Visitors are invited to see adoptable animals and see the facility.  Typically an appointment is needed to visit with a dog.

My name is Brutus. My D.O.B is 5/9/15. I arrived at Mackenzie’s heart worm positive and with a broken leg from being hit by a car. Mackenzie’s checked out my leg and is going to treat me for heart worm. I love being around people. Cuddling and getting attention are two of my favorite things. I’m working on learning my commands so I can impress my new family with how smart I am. I do need a physical fenced yard, so I don’t accidentally get hit by a car again.

Disco loves to dance for you. Just call him John Travolta. He is super excited with the humans that he has bonded with. He lived with older kids in his past life. His D.O.B. is 7/12/11. He loves to be a lap dog, and really just needs a family to love and love him back. Cuddle on the couch, or at your feet, either one suits him just fine. He likes to play with tennis balls or plushie toys. He loves to just be a constant companion.

Carol’s Ferals

Carol’s Ferals specializes in trap, neuter, return (TNR), but they come across “friendlies” who are available for adoption. Here are their pets of the week.

Kittens!!!  They are going fast, so better come and meet them soon!

Ferris is too shy to talk about himself, so we will tell you a little about him.  Once he is coaxed out, he purrs up a storm when petted.  We learned he loves wet food, so have been encouraging him to come out for pets using wet food as an incentive.  His adopter must be very patient with him.  We feel  his true loving nature will come out in a quiet, loving home.

Hi there, I’m Nyx, named after the Greek goddess of the night – but yes, I am a BOY!  Cool name though, don’t you think?  I have become to come out a lot more for affection, and at times have become quite a chatty character.  I am FIV positive, but can live a long life.  My FIV status only means if I get sick, you can’t wait to get me to a vet because my immune system is compromised.

I am Quentin, named after a French Saint.  To be honest, I am not the saintly type, but my orange coloring makes me one of the handsomest cats at CF.  I love playing with the red dot and getting love.  I can be a bit of a bully with other cats, so may be best to be adopted to a home with a dog and not another cat.

Vicky’s Pet Connection

Vicky’s Pet Connection works with the Kent County Animal Shelter to rescue cats and kittens.  They also take in dogs older in age and those needing special care. Here are their pets of the week.

Here is a sweet, little orange lion just waiting to steal your heart! Dallas is about 8-10 weeks old. He has tons of spunk and silliness. He also has a purr that won’t stop and a sister named Delta that would make a great companion for him if you have room in your heart for two!

This is Delta and she is 8-10 week old dilute torbi. That isn’t a coat color that we see every day! She is such an exotic looking little thing and has a brother named Dallas that she has a lot of fun with if you have room in your heart for two!

You can meet Delta and Dallas at Critter Cottage in Ada (7205 Thornapple River Drive). Store hours are Tuesday – Thursday from 10-6; Friday – Saturday from 10-3.  They’d love to see these two siblings go to a new home together.
