The following animals are available for adoption.  If you find an animal you’d like to adopt please contact the organization directly.  Lowell’s First Look does not assist with the adoption process. And if you’re looking to add to your family and don’t see an animal below, each organization has additional cats, dogs, or farm animals looking for new homes.   Pet profiles and photos are provided by each organization.

Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary

Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.

I’m Lady Bear! I’m a four year old mastiff mix – my birthday is 12/31/14. When I first came to Mackenzie’s, I was pretty shy. Now that I’ve settled in here a bit, I’ve quickly become a staff favorite! I don’t need much – just some tasty treats, tennis balls (or any toy, really!), and someone to love and snuggle, and I’m a happy gal!

I’d love to find a quiet adult home with a nice yard to play fetch, but in the meantime, I’ll be here working on my walking skills and making new friends (those with two legs and those with four)! Fill out an adoption application and mention me!

My name is Jay! I’m still a youngster – my birthday is 2/4/17. I’m just over two years old, so I still have a bit of energy. I’m not a fetch player, so a home that likes to walk, run, or hike would be awesome for me! Between my age and energy level, I might be best with older kids for now.

I’m a new arrival at Mackenzie’s, so the staff and volunteers are still getting to know me. So far, though, they’ve learned that I’m a big sweetheart that loves being around people, loves a good snuggle, and have lots of love to give!

Vicky’s Pet Connection

Vicky’s Pet Connection works with the Kent County Animal Shelter to rescue cats and kittens.  They also take in dogs older in age and those needing special care. Here are their pets of the week.

Hold onto your heart… we’re about to introduce you to Jayce! This handsome 2-3 year old fellow is everything you’d want in a best friend and houseguest! He’s moved into his foster home without a glitch and is a polite and gentle guest. He is getting along well with the other two dogs in the household but is not a big fan of cats. Jayce is a young dog is so he is active and loves to go for walks and play. When playtime is over he is a olympic-level snuggler and very happy to spend time with his people. He’s got so much going for him and we can’t wait to match him up with a family to love him!

Carol’s Ferals

Carol’s Ferals specializes in trap, neuter, return (TNR), but they come across “friendlies” who are available for adoption. Here are their pets of the week.

Hi my name is Jojan. I’m a happy girl when I can get one of the volunteers to turn on the sink faucet just a little; I like to catch the drops on my tongue. I will be appox 3 in May.

My Name is Lance. I’m about 4½ years old. I’m a friendly, gentle boy looking for my furever home. I’m FIV positive, but I can live with other cats who are not!

Hi, I’m Bacon. I’m so thankful I was rescued by an amazing lady who was able to bring me to Carol’s Ferals. I was a part of a colony, but the bigger cats ran me off and then I got a little sick. I’m a little shy, but once I come out of my shell, I LOVE pets and snuggles and giving head boops. I am FIV+, but that won’t stop be from living my best life!

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue look to find dogs and sometimes cats in their care forever homes with the help of foster homes.  Here are their pets of the week.

Charlie is an 85 pound, 3 year old GSD Mix with gorgeous brown eyes and a beautiful black coat. He is very smart; he knows basic commands and picks up things very quickly. We think Charlie would really shine in obedience classes. He will benefit from a patient home that will work on his socialization and help him build confidence. Charlie sometimes takes a minute to warm up, but when he does he is the most loyal, affectionate, sweetheart imaginable. He loves dogs that match his play style and personality, but he would do best in a home without cats. He is chipped, up to date on his vetting and ready to meet you!! His adoption fee is $250. This puppy faced Senior Lab Mix is a gentle giant and a true gentleman. Thor came to us in really bad shape, but he is flourishing in his foster home. He currently weighs 95 pounds, but as he continues to heal he will probably be closer to 115. Thor loves dogs, he loves people, and he is making the most of his new start in life !! He loves going for walks, and he is awesome on a leash. Thor has a very calming presence about him. Everyone he meets instantly loves him. There is something truly special in him. This sweet boy is chipped, up to date on his vetting and ready to find his forever home. His adoption fee is $150. To adopt Thor apply at www.rescueofhope.com/adoption-application/
