And if you’re looking to add to your family and don’t see an animal below, each organization has additional cats, dogs, or farm animals looking for new homes. Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary
Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.
Hi there! I’m Ross. I was found as a stray, out and about, having adventures! Lucky for me, I was picked up and found my way to Mackenzie’s. I’m about 6 years old, which means I’m out of the puppy phase but still have the energy to go for walks and play! I’m a lap dog at heart and I love to cuddle! I’d prefer a home without cats, but I did well meeting some kids here! I’m still pretty new to Mackenzie’s, so as the staff learns more about me they’ll update my information.
I’m Repo! I’m a two year old Rottweiler mix. Before coming to MAS, I was out and about, exploring and going off on my own adventures! Because I’m a curious guy and have an adventurous side, a family that can meet those needs would be great for me – whether that’s taking classes, going for hikes or runs…I’m up for anything!
I’m still pretty new to Mackenzie’s, so as the staff learns more about me they’ll update my information.
Vicky’s Pet Connection
Vicky’s Pet Connection works with the Kent County Animal Shelter to rescue cats and kittens. They also take in dogs older in age and those needing special care. Here are their pets of the week.
This gorgeous girl is named Monark. She has the most striking calico-colored coat you ever want to see! She is a little shy at first but soon becomes very friendly and is happy to be with her people. She was surrendered when her owner moved and was reported to have lived with dogs and gentle, older children.
Carol’s Ferals
Carol’s Ferals specializes in trap, neuter, return (TNR), but they come across “friendlies” who are available for adoption. Here are their pets of the week.
Hi, I’m Pixie. I am a very beautiful and sweet little gal. I was part of a group of cats that were dumped at a rest stop. It may take me a bit of time to realize that I am safe and loved.
Hi, I’m Primrose. My mom (Pixie) and I were part of a group of cats that were dumped at a rest stop. I am a little shy right now but before coming to Carols I was a pretty social gal.
Hi, I’m Russell. I am a survivor of a fire. My left eye is cloudy due to a corneal injury that happened in the fire. I am super sweet and very laid back, despite all I have been through.
Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue
Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue look to find dogs and sometimes cats in their care forever homes with the help of foster homes. Here are their pets of the week.
Kaya is an 8 year old Siberian Husky with beautiful, soulful, blue eyes. She is house trained and she knows many basic commands; she’s a very smart girl !! Kaya can take a minute to warm up to strangers, but when she knows someone she is exceptionally loving and loyal. Kaya will need a patient and supportive home that will help her work through the times when she’s anxious. Kaya loves to play with her softball and her soccer ball, it’s so funny to witness !! She does well with other dogs, but prefers more laid back pups that match her own pace and personality. Kaya is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on shots. Her adoption fee is $200. Pepper is the Spice Girl you’ve never heard of. She’s 9 weeks old and 7 pounds of pure personality. We’re not completely sure of her breed, but we believe she is an American Staffordshire Terrier mix.
She is both puppy pad and kennel trained, has basic leash manners, knows the commands: sit, down, come, crawl, and is learning to roll over and stay.
Pepper is very praise and treat motivated. She adores people and other dogs, and likes playing with and picking on the cat in her foster home. She especially loves chewing and her forever family will need to continue ‘redirect’ training her to exclusively chew on her toys, as well as giving her enough toys to keep her smart little mind busy.
Pepper would also benefit from puppy classes and would prefer her adoptive family to give her lots of affection and to have a really comfy couch for her to nap on.
