The following animals are available for adoption.  If you find an animal you’d like to adopt please contact the organization directly.  Lowell’s First Look does not assist with the adoption process. And if you’re looking to add to your family and don’t see an animal below, each organization has additional cats and dogs looking for new homes.   Pet profiles and photos are provided by each organization.

Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary

Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week. 

I’m Zurie – I’m a two and a half year old Malamute mix. I can be a pretty typical Malamute – love my people, love attention, love being on the go…and even up for a bit of conversation! After a long walk or a jog, I’m happy to settle down; I’m a lapdog at heart! With my higher energy and size, I may be best in a home with older kids. I’ve done well with the dogs I’ve met so far, and did well on my cat intro too. Fill out an application and mention me!

I’m Stormy! I’m a two year old husky mix – I was found as a stray before coming to Mackenzie’s. My D.O.B. is 10/28/16. As a husky, I’m pretty high energy. I love attention, but I also have a bit of an independent streak. I love to run straight to you and try to get on your lap. I love to snuggle and love attention. I really like rawhide’s and my food, so I am working on sharing, at MAS as we speak. I would be best with kids over 12.

Vicky’s Pet Connection

Vicky’s Pet Connection works with the Kent County Animal Shelter to rescue cats and kittens.  They also take in dogs older in age and those needing special care. Here are their pets of the week.

Hunter and Howie are the sweetest pair of brothers.  They are fun, playful and very much in love with the human race!  They are only around 12-14 weeks of age but you can see what gorgeous boys they are going to grow into.  They are such good friends, we’d sure love to see them be adopted together!

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue look to find dogs and sometimes cats in their care forever homes with the help of foster homes.  Here are their pets of the week. 

Hey, I’m Ruby! I’m only 4 months old and everyone keeps debating about whether I’m a Hound mix or a doberman mix but I don’t know what that means. The vet said I weigh about 23 lbs, pretty impressive right? I made the long journey from St. Landrys Parish hoping to find my forever family! I’m a spunky little girl who loves to romp around with her doggy friends. I’m still working on being housebroken- sometimes I’m so busy playing I forget to go to the door! I sleep in my kennel at night and would be fine in a kennel while you’re working. My foster mom says I’m kinda goofy because I love to frolic when I run and I’m always happy. I would love a home with a dog buddy, or a playful cat friend- the cats in my foster family don’t really like to play with me but I try really hard! I hope you want to meet me and make me yours! Barney is a very happy and laid back 7yr old Dachshund/Chihuahua Mix. He’s great with cats other calm dogs or dogs of his own size, and loves older kids, but can be overwhelmed by small children. All Barney really wants is to be somebody’s shadow. He bonds strongly with whoever he lives with, and loves to follow them everywhere. Including the bathroom if he can! Barney LOVES going for walks, snuggling with his people, and pretty much all food. He is potty trained and knows sit & down. Barney recently had surgery for a torn ACL, and may need surgery in the future for his other leg. He can have a hard time getting onto furniture without steps, but doesn’t mind being picked up.
