GOOD IN A HOME WITH
Other dogs, cats
Much like Anakin Skywalker, the force is strong with me.
For real….I am a beefcake! Don’t worry, I have not gone to the dark side, a lot of my beefcakiness is put to use holding my bed down. But anyone who is foolish enough to underestimate my strength and challenge me to a tug game will get a taste of the true chosen one!
I am a fun-loving good boy; but it is fair to say there is a bit of puppy escapade inside me at times. Practicing the righteous ways of the Jedi has been an amazing pastime for me to keep me on the light side. I love going for walks through the galaxy (really, it’s been the scenic grounds at MAS, but a guy can dream right?). With continued Padawan training from an Obi-Wan Kenobi of my own, we can harness the force to positive outlets for me! Which honestly, I am so treat and reward motivated that with consistency, I am sure I could be a Jedi in no time!
I am a fairly sociable guy, I have made some canine friends here at MAS, and when I met a cat I was more interested in playing with my rope toy than befriending it.

Peanut is an approximately 9 year old, 9-lb Chihuahua mix who is looking for her retirement home with plenty of blankets and comfy spots she can burrow into and take a nap, her most favorite pastime! She’s pretty easy going and doesn’t ask for much, just a gentle hand and plenty of dog beds to choose from as she moves from cozy spot to cozy spot. Peanut is a quiet companion who does well with cats, respectful dogs large and small, and would likely be ok with kids old enough to know not to manhandle her little body. Instead of lap-sits, she prefers to lay next to you so she can get comfy with a little extra space for her older bones. She has some arthritis in her back end and can’t do stairs, but is fine with being picked up and carried to go out to the yard, and could potentially learn to use a ramp with a very gradual rise.
We are considering Peanut to be a special needs case, as she has a head tilt an is unsteady on her feet at times, which she is on a low maintenance dose of a steroid to help manage. Peanut enjoys outside time sunning herself and is content to hang out with her person wherever there is somewhere cozy for her, but doesn’t need to be glued to your side all the time. She is potty trained for 3-4 hours at a time, and will use a potty pad if she needs to go during longer stretches.
Second Chance Cats of West Michigan
Second Chance Cats is a 501(c)3 non-profit with a mission to help cats at municipal shelters who are at risk for euthanasia or were deemed unadoptable because of behavioral or medical issues. The group also works with other private rescues that are overcrowded and helps rehome cats that have been assessed as friendly when going through the trap-neuter-return process. Here is their pet of the week.

Meet Melody, our lovely, golden girl whose owner abandoned her two years ago in the city. For those two years, she had to fend for herself, trying to survive. Eventually, a cat trapper, trapped her and now she is safely in the hands of Second Chance.
Melody sports beautiful gray/brown markings, she loves people, is friendly and enjoys pets. She is not a fan of other cats and we believe she was likely bullied, attacked, trying to keep herself alive. How awful an experience this senior girl must have experienced. It’s now our goal to find her a safe, nurturing home, where she can be the only cat and treated like the special girl she is. Melody is active and spunky so her age is only a number. Her future adopter will see what a great cat she is and feel very lucky to have found her. Melody’s sweet purrs will be music to your ears!
If you would like to meet our lovely Melody, after an approved application, a visit will be arranged for you to visit Melody in her foster home.
Melody has been spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. Melody has an approximate birthdate of 07-06-2012. Her adoption fee is $95.
