Hi there, I’m Averie! I hear people-pleasing is supposed to be exhausting…but not for me! Being the young lady that I am, my potential is as high as your dedication. It is very satisfying to utilize this beautiful brain I have to make my friends (and my future family) happy. I won’t lie to you; I can be a bit stubborn at times, but positive reinforcement and consistency will help me become the best version of myself.
You’ll often find me splashing around in the pond here at MAS, getting my toes wet and having a blast. Toys are my absolute favorite, and I can’t get enough of them. I’m always up for some fun and games, and I’d love a family that’s just as active as I am. Who needs a television when you could have me to keep you entertained! My excitement is expressed in such a dorky way. I like to zoom around and try my best to impersonate a professional contortionist by folding over like a pretzel with my behind in the air! Because I can be a bit overzealous with my energy, I might be best suited for older children who have a sturdy stance.
I’m really excited to play with other dogs too, and a furry friend who enjoys a bit of rough-and-tumble would be perfect. But on a quick note—cats and I have agreed to a mutual “no thanks” policy. Let’s just say, I’m not a fan of their sassy attitudes and they don’t appreciate my enthusiasm. Meeting new people can make me a little unsure at first, but give me a moment, and I’ll warm up to you. Once I do, I’m like a breath of fresh air, bringing positivity and joy wherever I go. If you’re looking for a spirited, fun-loving companion who will keep you on your toes and fill your days with laughter, I’m your girl.
Don’t wait too long—if you like it, then you should put a collar on it! Take the first step by submitting your adoption application at the MAS website below, and let’s get this party started!

Bishop is a 65 pound, 2 year old Staffy Mix with the sweetest, most endearing presence !! We adore him. His foster humans describe him as a gentle, old soul who is so affectionate and snuggly; he has a mellow laid back presence, he brings so much love to his home. He is very smart and loves learning new things; he would love to go to classes with his forever humans. Bishop is house trained and crate trained. Bishop likes to make dog friends on a short walk before jumping into play and his big ol’ pittie heart seems to prefer female dogs, and he especially swoons over the smaller ones. Bishop is neutered and up to date on shots. His adoption fee is $250.
Second Chance Cats of West Michigan
Second Chance Cats is a 501(c)3 non-profit with a mission to help cats at municipal shelters who are at risk for euthanasia or were deemed unadoptable because of behavioral or medical issues. The group also works with other private rescues that are overcrowded and helps rehome cats that have been assessed as friendly when going through the trap-neuter-return process. Why have salt when you can have Pepper?? Meet our Pepper, a sweet, demure girl who was transferred to us from a shelter in Kalamazoo. Pepper is beautiful with wide, gold eyes. She likes pets and appreciates a slow approach with encouraging words. She will reward you by nuzzling your hand and purring.
Pepper has a gentle, loving demeanor. Her former foster Mom describes her as very sweet. Pepper’s confidence is growing daily, she seeks pets and will ask you not to stop by stretching out her little paws as far as she can. Pepper also likes to play, especially with a wand toy. If you have time, love, and patience to give, Pepper is all the spice you’ll ever need!
Pepper would do well in a friendly multi-cat household or as an only cat where she can bask in all of your attention. We think Pepper would appreciate a quieter routine home.
Pepper has been spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. Pepper has an approximate birthdate of 06-14-2021. Her adoption fee is $95.
