Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary

Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.

Ace

It’s that time of year again, and Ace is longing for a new home. He has been at MAS for a while now, and keeps getting passed up in adoption meetings. Always the Best Man never the Groom. He is a little bit shy, but loves older kids and running, and playing in the pond, and taking long walks and just hanging out with the family. He is best as an only dog, although he did come in with his sister Olive….he is better without other dogs too much in his face.

Aura

Hi…my name is Aura!!! My D.O.B. is 1/10/10. I am a beautiful brindle Terrier/Mix. I am the perfect companion for a retired couple, that just wants a dog to baby. I love to cuddle and hang out with you. I am good with older kids, and love walks. I tend to not like certain dogs, so the best home for me would be a single dog home. If bonding with a loving companion is what you are after, then I am the one. Please come and visit me soon.

Carol’s Ferals

Carol’s Ferals specializes in trap, neuter, return (TNR), but they come across “friendlies” who are available for adoption. Here are their pets of the week.

LaManita

Meet LaManita!  Beautiful and sassy, that’s me.  I enjoy being petted, but haven’t been a lap cat in quite a while.  I have been at Carol’s Ferals for eight years, and have seen so many others get adopted while I’ve been overlooked.  If you want an independent cat who likes to lay around, watch the world, and mind her own business – I’m your girl.  I am also very photogenic, if you need a model.  Come meet me, and you’ll see.

Oden

Meet Oden!  Needed – BIG hearted person experienced giving medications and subcutaneous fluids to give an old Tom a loving home.  I was on my own for quite a while, and that tom cat life has caught up with me.  There’s no need for a long-term commitment, just someone to keep me comfortable in whatever time I have left.  If you would like to foster me, Carol’s Ferals will pay for medications.

Fiji

Meet Fiji!  My name evokes palm trees and soft ocean breezes.  I’m not quite that exotic, but I do enjoy laps and being petted.  I am known for my gently ninja paw slap when I’ve had enough attention.  Come put your nose by mine, and let’s get acquainted.

Carol’s Ferals has oceans of kittens – black, orange, gray, calico, tabby, patch tabby – all need good, loving homes.  Like all kittens, they are playful, lively, and entertaining.  Come sit in the room and experience kitten overload.

Vicky’s Pet Connection

Vicky’s Pet Connection works with the Kent County Animal Shelter to rescue cats and kittens.  They also take in dogs older in age and those needing special care. Here are their pets of the week.

Speckle

Speckle is a fun and energetic brown tabby that is just 9-12 weeks old. She is one of 4 siblings that would all make great companions if you have room for two kittens in your life! She loves to wrestle, run and romp so having a buddy to do that with would be awesome!

You can meet Speckle at Critter Cottage in Ada (7205 Thornapple River Drive). Store hours are Tuesday-Thursday from 10-6 and Friday-Saturday from 10-3.

Kendall

Kendall is a gorgeous 3 year old tortie who came to the shelter with a litter of kittens. She has finished her duties as a mom and wants nothing more than to play her day away. She is a bit cautious around other cats at first but if you give her time, she learns that they can be fun companions. She would likely do best in a quieter home that would suit her gentle personality.
